Under the Sea

Hello crafty friends! I have a card to share with you today featuring one of the recently released stamps from the "New Adventures of Loli and Poppy" collection by Sylvia Zet available exclusively at SCACD. This is Elania. I love mermaids, and have been looking forward to colouring this image up since I first saw her! She was stamped on Neenah cardstock with Memento Ink and coloured with my Copics. I used some older Prima papers for this card, but you can check out the fabulous selection of paper available at SCACD HERE. The flourish was created with the Memory Box Elegant Scrollwork die. The bow was tied with my Bow Easy and I added a little seashell charm. Susana has some fabulous charms HERE.

The image was cut out and matted with oval and scalloped oval Spellbinders. After colouring her tail, I coated it with Smooch Illuminate and added a very thin layer of Stardust Stickles which I spread with my finger.

LOVES ME

Good Morning! Well, today I am going to showcase LOVES ME from the FAIRYLICIOUS COLLECTION. Victoria Case did a fantastic job with his collection. Doesn't she make you want to get ready for spring?

I stamped the image with TUXEDO BLACK MEMENTO INK and colored her with COPICS. Her wings are highlighted with STICKLES. The lace, ribbon and butterflies are from my stash. To finish it off I added some KAISERCRAFT PEARLS.

This card has lots of pretty sparkle, but I couldn't quiet capture it in the picture.

Hope all of you have a wonderful weekend! Thanks for visiting, I really do appreciate all of you.

Friendship Ties

Friendship Ties is one of the images from the newly released New Adventures of Lili and Poppy drawn by Sylvia Zet exclusively for SCACD.  Such a fun and adorable collection that I couldn't pick a favorite and so glad I have them ALL.

I paired the image with paper from Basic Grey and used a Memory Box die, Madera Corner to created the leaf/vine corner accent.  Add a ribbon and a few flowers and viola!  A cheerful card for Spring.  Now, I just need Spring to arrive!

Get Inky!!

Tea Party with Daphne

Sylvia Zet's newest release, New Adventures of Loli and Poppy is wonderful with oh so adorable images!!!  This is one of my faves in this collection : )  Here's
Daphne's Tea Party.

Of course I had to use pink!!!  She's colored with copics, which is no surprise...  Here's what I used:  Hair - E35 E34 YR21 YR20; Skin - E11 E00 E000; Clothes/Furniture - R39 R85 R83 R81/E57 E55 E43 E50 C4 ; Teapot n Cups - R83 R81 R11 R000; Kitty - C9 C5 C4 C3 C2 C1.

A few Opal Paper Pen pearls in the corners which tie in the pearl heart brad on the tag : )  I've had this gorgeous flower for quite some time and I decided that I could part with it (I still have two left in the package which you'll have to pry out of my hands lol!).  They are both lacey and of course pink!!!

Here you can see the dimension.  I used dimensionals to pop up the image layer.  I dug out my QuicKutz dies and squeeze punch to create the tag.  The sentiment is from My Time Made Easy.

OK... here's the cool new embossing folder part - really!!!  It's Brocade by Craft Concepts.  I started with a 2 inch strip of white cardstock.  This embossing folder has an opening in the 'fold' which is 2" wide and fits a strip of cs in.  I was able to make a continuous embossed strip of 11.5" which I trimmed to fit.  After embossing, I used an MS punch on both sides to make it more girlie : )  I'll try to get photos to show you in detail soon on my blog - just in case my description doesn't help hee hee!

A final shot which shows a little of the shiny dp which is Sweet Nothings (look at the top) and all the shiny and sparkly areas - love that shine and bling!

Thanks for taking a peek today!  Enjoy the rest of your weekend : )

Love and blessings ~

Loves Me!

Hi all!  I'm here with Loves Me from The Fairylicious Collection by Victoria Case for SCACD!

She was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored with Copic Sketch Markers.  Cut the image out with Spellbinders Nestabilities Circle Dies, then went to town on the back end with my scissors.  Beautiful paper is from Crate Paper - Paper Heart Collection.  I used the Memory Box Cherish Border die to cut a border for the card bottom and I also randomly cut out a piece from the die cut to position along the top right.  I wanted yellow behind my image, but did not want plain yellow cardstock or a busy paper - so I grabbed my Magic Mesh Linen Weave in "Lemonade" for a subtle effect.

I had little hearts all over the place from die cutting, lol - so I adhered some of them to the magic mesh and glossed them with my Viva Decor Glass Effect "Crystal Clear" Gel.  (I got the idea from Lori's post Here.  Thanks, Lori!  She used the Viva Decor Gloss Gel Pearl Pen, so I thought I would try the Glass Effect "Crystal Clear" Gel.)  I also glossed various hearts within the cherish border die cuts.  Then I went to town with my Viva Decor Ice White Pearl Pen and Sunny Yellow Pearl Pen.  There's lots of shimmer/shine - Ranger "Crystal" Stickles brushed on her wings; Diamond Glaze on her eyes & lips.

Hope you are having an awesome weekend!
Lorraine

CRYSTAL ROSE

Good Morning !!! It's Friday. (YAY) I hope all of you had a wonderful week and have a fun weekend planned.

This week I have created a card out of my comfort zone. I have some beautiful CRAFTERS WORKSHOP STENCILS, but cannot always figure out a way to use them. Well, this week one of my crafty DT members has done a tutorial here that you must see. So, thought I would give it a try.

First, the beautiful image is CRYSTAL ROSE from the FAIRYLICIOUS COLLECTION by VICTORIA CASE FOR SCACD.

Now to the card. First, I stamped my image and masked her. There is a great tutorial on masking here. I used the CRAFTERS WORKSHOP STENCIL - BUTTERFLY MEADOW and adjusted the placement as needed. This is the first time I have used a stencil and an airbrush. It was definitely something new for me, but I really like the idea of using stencils for backgrounds. I plan on playing some more to see what I can come up with. She is colored with Copics and her wings are accented with STICKLES.

This angle shows the sparkle from the embellishments and the dimension.

Just a reminder the tutorial for using stencils is on the store blog. Please be sure and check it out.

NEW ITEMS IN STOCK: While you are at the store look around and see all the cool stuff.

Creating Waves with Elania

I've been wanting to try out different techniques for awhile.  How 'bout you?  This week Lorraine has brought us an AWESOME tutorial on stenciling.  I've made my own background paper using stencils this week too : )

There are so many creative geniuses in the world for which I am grateful!  That makes my job a little easier when it comes to trying to figure out a particular look I want for a card.  I don't remember where I first found the idea of creating texture using cellophane (or even if I followed the instructions!).

I wanted my mermaid to have the look of being underwater.  I didn't want to use Diamond Glaze or a similar product this time, but instead choose to use the cellophane that one of my stamps came in.  I could have glued it down as is, but I decided to create some 'waves.'

It actually was very easy...  I used my heat tool to distort and melt the cellophane until it looked 'done' to me!  Here's the result:

What do you think?  I hope I achieved my desired look...  The image is Elania by Sylvia Zet for SCACD.  I've used the following copics to color her:  Hair - E35 E34 YR21 YR20; Skin - E11 E00 E000; Fin/Top - BG18 BG13 BG11 BG10 BG01 BG000 RV10; Rock - C9 C7 C5 C4 C3 C1; Greens - YG67 YG63 YG 61, YG11; Browns - E55 E53 E50/E37 E33 E31 E30.

Sorry...this is a terrible photo : (
For the background, I used a new stencil from the store called Fish Scales, which was designed by Victoria Case!  I simply laid down the stencil on a piece of white cardstock, sponged Tumbled Glass and Bundled Sage Distress Ink over the entire area, and then trimmed to size.  Voila'  ** Be sure to check out Lorraine's AWESOME tutorial on stenciling!!!

I didn't have totally clear baubles for the 'bubbles' but you can find them (clear) *Here.*  A little bit of Stardust Stickles and a frame of Glamour Dust around the image for a bit of bling adds to the water theme...

...and what would a card be without my paper pens?  lol...  I've used Graphite Paper Pen on this one.  The fish charm is from my sweet blog friend, Kelly (you ROCK girl!).  It's attached with jump rings and a brad.  A simple sheer black bow ties in the black pearls and rock... this one's already out the door for sale!

I even got in some sewing - yay!!!

Don't forget to check out Lorraine's post on stenciling - it is AWESOME!!!

See you soon friends ♥

Get Crazy with Stencils!

Hi all! I’m here to do a tutorial with stencils. Susana has so many cool STENCILS! I’ve had so much fun playing around with them, that I thought I’d share. Stencils can be used in sooo many ways!

Okay, let's get the party started!  Besides your stencil and the medium you will be using, you will need removable tape (I'm using Scotch Removable Tape), a scraping tool (to use with the embossing paste - here I am using the Tsukineko Squeegee) and some sponge daubers.

For my first sample, I'm using Crafters Workshop "Flames" Stencil with Ranger Distress Inks. However you can use any type of ink you wish (Memento, etc.).  Tape your stencil down with the removable tape.  With your sponge dauber begin sponging ink onto the stencil.  If you are using several colors, start with the lightest and work toward the darkest.  When done, remove the stencil.

How about using Dreamweaver Embossing Paste
Marti & Suzanne have done some excellent videos on using Stencils & different mediums. So to avoid reinventing the wheel, I will list them here for you to check out. They are fun & cool!
Marti - Embossing with Stencils
Marti - Dreamweaver Embossing (Part 1 of 3)
Marti - Dreamweaver Embossing (Part 2 of 3)
Marti - Dreamweaver Embossing (Part 3 of 3)
Suzanne - Fun with Dreamweaver Products

Here I used the Dreamweaver "Small Damask Background" Stencil with Dreamweaver Translucent Embossing Paste and Goldfinch, Kimono Red & Navajo Sky Mica Powders on black cardstock.  So pretty - much sparklier IRL.

As seen in Marti's 1st Video, you can also dry emboss with stencils.  For this next piece, I dry embossed using my Bigshot and the Crafters Workshop Flames Stencil.  While the stencil was still taped to the cardstock, I rubbed my Versamark Ink Pad over the stencil to catch the raised areas.  I then removed the stencil and dusted on Dreamweaver Goldfinch and Kimono Red Mica Powders.

How about Chalk for a very subtle beautiful effect? I used the Dreamweaver "Small Damask Background" Stencil with various chalk shades.  I also used the Crafters Workshop "Bamboo" Stencil with various green, brown and yellow chalk shades. Gives a very soft, subtle effect.

Do ya love to spritz?  I do!  Using the Workers Craftshop "Circle Explosion" Stencil, after taping it down, I played around, spritzing with Maya Mists "Metallic Lime" (left side) and Smooch Spritz "Gingersnap" (right side).  So pretty IRL - love the shimmering effects!  Be sure to spray lightly and be careful when removing the stencil.

Spritzing the same colors (kiwi on left & gingersnap on right) on black cardstock - for a totally different look!

For my last project, I used the Crafters Workshop Bricks Stencil. I wanted the bricks raised a bit so I taped the stencil to the paper, then ran it through my Bigshot.  While the paper was still attached to the stencil, using Jumbo Sponge DauberI inked it with Barn Door Distress Ink.

I then inked various edges of the bricks with Fired Bick and Black Soot Distress Inks, using Small Sponge Daubers.

Removed the stencil.  Applied Liquid Applique "White" between the bricks (quickly, not being particularly neat).

Using the end of a paintbrush, I spread the Liquid Applique out.  (Note - Do NOT heat the Liquid Applique for this project.)

After the Liquid Applique dried, I sponged some Tea Dye, Vintage Photo & Black Soot Distress Inks over the Liquid Applique and brick edges.

Lastly, don’t forget the obvious - stencils can be used to make outlines with a pen that can be colored in later with Copic Sketch Markers.

I hope I’ve sparked your creative energy and you’ll join in on the fun!  We would love to see your creations using stencils. Link any creations to the comments so we can enjoy them!
