What's In The Box Peeker

I really hope you have had the opportunity to see all the inspiration my DT Sisters and our Special Guests provided for the new release Peekers 2 by Elisabeth Bell exclusively for SCACD.  If not, I suggest taking just a minute to look at some of them on their blogs!  I have to admit that I too have caught PEEKER FEVER!  They are just so much fun to work with and so I spent some time playing with them yesterday.  I have to share what I created with What's In The Box Peeker and some of the fun things in stock at SCACD!
First I stamped What's In The Box Peeker on white cardstock and colored her.  I used the new Authentique - Journey paper pack for the background and the paper piecing in her dress.  I then used the Tonertex glue and silver foil to create the polka dots in the ribbon on the present.  I ran some strips of the Inkessentials Metal Foil Tape Sheets (this stuff ROCKS!) through the Garden Swirl embossing folder by Craft Concepts.  After, I rubbed a bit of the Craft-T Metallic Rub-Ons in sky blue over the embossed foil.  Everything got matted in black cardstock and VIOLA!

Less is more - 2 mini cards

Hej ladies!
A very short post from me today - since we've just returned back from a mini-vacation in Denmark and I def. need to go to bed so that I can take care of that big laundry pile tomorrow...*lol*. I had planned to post these cards earlier this week - but the internet connection would not work from where we stayed - so........

Anyway - I decided to create 2 quick mini cards with as little embellies as I possible could. Hm.....hard - but it went fine - especially since I had these 2 cute images to work with from the "vault" over at SCACD.  I really wanted them to be in the focus - so that's why there are no embellies + I also had requests for mini cards - not my usual 6x6.

Hope you like them!

Rosie- altered

I will admit that I have never worked on a canvas before and this was a bit of an experiment when it began.  However, I will also tell you it is not going to be the LAST time I work on a canvas.  This was a complete joy to create.

I began by using a Crafter's Workshop stencil and some color mists in purple and black to create the design on the canvas.  I then stamped the head of Rosie from the Sweet Meets Sassy 2 collection drawn by Victoria Case exclusively for SCACD. because she made me think most of me, and colored it with markers.  Since purple is my favorite color, you can see the theme I am sure.  The dress was cut free hand, and took several reworks and the paper is Kaisercraft Utopia (currently on sale!).  I tore the bottom edge and then stamped the swirls on the dress and flower using some Prima stamps.   The butterfly is a Maya Road chipboard covered in some scrap paper and stamped again with the Prima stamps.  I hand wrote the words and the rubons on the side are an unknown source AKA 'my stash'.

I think I am going to create a series of these canvases that have the words I need to remember.  Then I will periodically change out which on is on display.  I have found that sometimes I don't actually see things that are in front of me all the time, but periodic reminders are powerful.

Hydrangea Hug Birthday Wishes

Happy Monday Everyone!  Sorry I've been away from SCACD for a while...between taking my CPA exam and getting some bad news in my family I had to take a small break from crafting.  But today I'm back and SUPER happy to be crafty again!!!  And I'm excited about my trip this week....today I am Chicago bound....heading down to CHA!  I am so excited for this get away with my Mom!

Today I am so happy to share with you my card using one of the super cute Flower Children from SCACD:
Miss Hydrangea Hugs by Elisabeth Bell for SCACD is one of my FAVORITE SCACD stamps!  Isn't she darling!  I've decided to use her for a birthday card, but can't wait to make a baby card with her as well!  Papers on this card are from the Prima Sweet Fairy collection.
Little Miss Hydrangea Hugs was colored with Copics and accented with my pastel pencil.  She was cut out with the SB Labels 4  popped up on some lace fans and then a SB labels 9.
From this angle you can see the beauty of the image.  I added Diamond Glaze on the flower pot, Glamour Dust Crystal Paint on the bow, and Illuminate Smooch to the center of the flowers on her hat.
And one more view to share the dimension of the card!

♥ Thanks for stopping by! ♥

A Flower For You

Good morning! Susana recently released the Sweet Meets Sassy Collection #2 at SCACD...these gorgeous stamps were designed by artist Victoria Case exclusively for SCACD. There are two sets of stamps in the collection: "Hearts and Hugs" and "Retro Crew". For my card today, I inked up "Rosie" from the Retro Crew set. I used Spellbinders to cut out and frame the image. That gorgeous fabric flower is from Prima ("De Soie") and I made my own pearl flourishes with a Viva Decor Pearl Pen in Ice White. I love pearl flourishes, but they are often pricey...the Viva Decor Pearl Pens are definitely a pocket-book-friendly alternative. :) The striped and polka-dotted papers are from a MME Stella and Rose paper pack, and the pink and white paper is from the Bo Bunny Gabrielle collection. (You can check out Susana's amazing selection of 6x6 paper packs by clicking on the link.)

Rosie was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on Neenah cardstock and coloured with Copic markers. While the image was still in the Spellbinders die, I sponged around the edges with Victorian Velvet Distress Ink.

Skin: E000, E00, E11, R20 Hair: E50, E31, E33, E37, E59 Dress: BG72, BG75, C5, C7, R32, R35, R37 Rose: R22, R27, R59

The Sweet Meets Sassy Collection #2 is exclusively available at SCACD and at Quixotic Paperie for our crafty friends in the UK.

SCACD carries a wide variety of fantastic products for all your paper crafting needs...and the prices are incredible!! Susana is always adding products to the store as well, so check back frequently to see what's new at SCACD! You can also sign up as a follower here at the store blog, Follow Your Heart, where the very talented members of Susana's design team are always posting gorgeous projects featuring the different stamps and product lines available at SCACD.

Thanks so much for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Blessings,

Melanie

Thinking of You

The recently releases Sweet Meets Sassy 2 Collection drawn by Victoria Case for SCACD has this great image Thinking of You as part of it.   I create a lot of cards for Operation Write Home (OWH) and this image is  ideal!

I also got to play with some fabulous products when I made this card.  The background paper is from the Bo Bunny Timepiece collection.  The flowers were a lot of fun to make.  Yep- make!  They are punched from some crumpled Tim Holtz Glassine paper available at SCACD.  This stuff is really cool.  I kind of reminds me of dark wax paper, but it is absorbent.  The colored ones were spritzed with 2 different colors of the Smooch Spritz, wine and log cabin.

Now, here is the fun part, see that key?  It was made from the Viva Decor Crystal Gel.  Yep- still LOOOOOOOOOOVE this stuff.

I have a silicon mold that is the key.  My jar of Viva Decor Crystal Gel is actually a gorgeous orange gold color.  However, that color didn't work with this card so what is a girl to do?  PAINT IT of course!

Orange key with brown and burgundy acrylic paint ready to go.

Painted

Added metallic rubon from SCACD after it was dry to 'age' it.

Looks pretty fabulous doesn't it?

LOVE YOU and HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Good Morning! How is everyone's week going so far? I just looked at this weekend's forcast and it is going to be 106 and 107 degrees. This is actual temperature not heat index. Think I will be staying indoors. Next week I will be going to Florida to the beach for a little relief and see my grandchildren. (YAY) My 88 year old Aunt had surgery so I wanted to make her a Get Well card and chose this beautiful stamp and wanted to make a vintage looking card. She isn't doing very well so I decided to give it to my mother for her 84th birthday in a couple of weeks. This image is "Tall Perfume Bottle"from the vault by Victoria Case.

All of the DP is Echo Park - Be Mine and Susana has it on sale right now. I embossed the image with gold and colored it with Copics. The pretty pearls are Kaisercraft Pearls and the beautiful pin is from the Dreamweaver Multi Color Pin Set. The large Black gold tipped rose is Sugar Blooms by Prima. These roses are already gold tipped and beautiful. The white rose are Prima Cameo Roses
which Susana also has on sale now.

Don't you just love the Trinkets? It is from Bo Bunny and Susana has a lot of different ones. The Love You is also from the same paper pack, I just cut it out from the paper I used on the inside of the card.

The inside of the card is not totally finished. I plan on stamping "Happy Birthday" in the center of the heart and write something below. All of this paper is also from Echo Park - Be Mine.

Thank you for stopping bye and be sure and check out the store blog for more fabulous creations.

perfume drama!

hi everyone!
susana and i were talking and she mentioned that she thought the perfume bottles in the recent vault release would look amazing colored on black.  i took her up on her idea and boy was she right!

I colored this with Lyra Polycolor pencils on black cardstock.  The trick is to stamp with white, shade with white and then add your color.  this works with any brand of pencil but i noticed the polycolors were more vibrant - probably because they are oil based not wax.

I love the way the black mats add to the drama of the bag.  my great big flower is made by me too!  it is super easy!  first i picked out a cool ribbon - this particular one was sheer and gathered into tufts plus it had pearls too.  next I took some Wonder Tape by Ranger in the full sheet and i cut out a circle the size i wanted my flower to be.  it does not have to be a perfect circle.  Peel off one side of the backing to expose the stickiness.  Press the end of your ribbon down in the center and then just wind it around in a circle, sticking it down as you go. DONE!  that easy!  now when you're ready to use it just peel the backing off of the other side (not covered by ribbon) and stick it on!  way cool or what.  even better - susana has another option for you.  you can get pre-cut sticky circles too!  Glubers from Cosmo Cricket.  so have fun!

hugs

Marti

Live Love Laugh

Hej ladies!
Today I have a very short post for you today. Yes - I'm officially on vacation from the office and I'm really going to try to spend as much of it outdoors. Luckily it's not getting that dark during the evenings and nights here in Sweden yet - so that's when I get to craft a little bit. Enjoying that - listening to the radio. Sometimes I even take my copics with me out in the garden - just to colour while I'm having a cup of coffee ;-)

So what how do you keep your crafting alive during the Summer break?

Today I would like to show you this little card made with Thinking of you.
As always these days - trying to keep the layout clean and simple *lol*.
DP from SU.
Colouring: Copics
Flowers: Prima
Lace - from stash
Sentiment - from the Retro Crew Collection

Looking fwd to hear from you.

LOL and SMLES ACROSS THE MILES

Good Morning!! Did all of you have a wonderful 4th? It was soooo hot and dry here so all the fireworks were cancelled, but we still had fun and enjoyed good food with our neighbors.

Does this image remind you of your preteen and teenage daughters or grandaughters? If my grandaughters are not texting on their phones they are on the computer on FB or Skype. Since mine live out of state this image is perfect. It is LOL:) from the SWEET MEETS SASSY COLLECTION 2 by Victoria Case for SCACD. There are so many cute stamps in this collection. I want to color them all so I just might have to play hookey from work. (lol)

I did get my sewing machine to work for a little whilte so I added a little. Of course, she is colored with Copics and highlited with Stickles. The ribbon and flower are from my stash. Susana has some beautiful Kaisercraft Rhinestones to add the final dazzle.

Here is another angle. Don't look, I haven't finished the inside.

Thank you for stopping by and be sure and come back Friday.

Everyone have a wonderful week!!

HUGS,

Time for a walk?

I was recently was gone to a seminar and  Susana had a wonderful release by Victoria Case for SCACD~~ Sweet Meets Sassy Collection 2! I had played with a few of the great stamps but knew I wanted to get some of the others inky too so today I started with Femme Fatale.

Since it’s the 4th of July weekend for us here in the USA, I decided that this gorgeous gal was going to a glamorous charity event for the 4th so she’d dolled out in her best patriotic attire!
