I've Got Butterflies!

Life of Butterflies

My first card today is one I did using this week's SCS Sketch #256 which was a pretty cool sketch me thinks--I love the wavy center panel!  I pulled out my Lockhart "Chintz Butterfly" stamp out & embossed the butterflies & the sentiment (from PTI's "Life" set) with Stewart's Copper embossing powder & Versamark ink.  Sorry I forgot who the dp is by (maybe DCWV?)--I only had small bits of it left but I love it!  The center panel is suede paper (so yummy) that I embossed--lots of fun texture which I love!  I tied my bow with extra wide ribbons (a la my pal Becca Feeken), attached with Scor-Tape & added some Copper Bella Baubles to finish it off.

Here's a close-up of the butterfly with that fun copper embossing & then I added some stickles to the lower wings for a little extra sparkle!  You should try this sketch out--really fun!!

Hope you've had a fabulous Thanksgiving & a wonderful weekend!!

Try It Out Tuesday #45--All Buttoned Up!!

Okay, so today is another "Try It Out Tuesday #45" and this week I challenged the DT to use buttons on their projects.  You know I love buttons--am a bit button obsessed, hee hee and these fabulous NEW GLITTER BUTTONs that Susana has in her store are YUMMO-licious!  What could be better than glitter & buttons combined together--fabulous I say!!  For this tri-fold card I used one of my most used & beloved Lockhart stamps called "Hydrangea & Berries"--I made this stamp mulitple colors but I love the soft aquas & creams that I used this time!  The dp is by Stampin Up (brown's) and PTI (aqua's).  And oh those fabulous Glitter Buttons in yummy chocolate brown--love them!  The corner's were made by cutting triangles out & then punching the edge with my new MS border punch--love to make fun corners!!

Close-up of the image shows the Ivory Flower Soft on the hydrangeas and stickles on the berry leaves and jar front--gotta have some bling!!  Now make sure and scroll down to see the rest of the DT's fabulous projects using buttons today!!  And let us see your "Buttoned Up" Projects as well---just link to this post!!

So Suzanne challenged us to use buttons - LOVE me some buttons! and Susana has the most amazing buttons in the store right now - check these babies out! Clear AND glitter plus some metallics...deeLISH! unfortunately they are not living at my house YET (they will be very soon)!! however i DID have an assortment of Basic Grey buttons on hand (equally yummy in a mix of sizes with some transparent) and some gorgeous matching Basic Grey Indian Summer paper which i used across the top:

I stamped this pretty Lockhart Harvest Window with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copics. The image has tiny little detail vines so i highlighted those with sparkling Spica Glitter Pens. I finished it all off with a touch of Autumn Flower Soft.
i hope you ALL have a truly wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!!

TIOT # 45 ~ Buttons

For this week's TIOT we are to use buttons on our cards. I love buttons, so this was right up my alley!
I've used the wonderful image Cherry Blossom from the Sampler Edition #2 by Elisabeth Bell for SCACD, colored with Prismacolor pencils. It's extra fun to use buttons when you have coordinated patterned papers and buttons! Here I've used a sheet from the BasicGrey Indian Summer pad, and buttons to go with it. (These buttons are now on sale in Susana's shop!)
I used Scrapper's Floss on the buttons, I colored a piece of white with a green ProMarker.

TIOT45 - Coffee Break!

(click the photo to enlarge!)

Welcome to this week's Try it out Tuesday from Susana's Custom Art and Card Design! This week our challenge is to BUTTON UP, use buttons on your project -- keyword: TIOT45!

I decided to combine this with this week's Copic Colour Challenge 40 - see below for the colors. Just perfect for this new Elisabeth Bell for SCACD image, Latte. Love it! I can just picture, springtime at a little cafe somewhere nice...like Italy. Wishful thinking? Hey, go big or go home!

The image was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copic markers of course. My buttons are from Basic Grey, as is the patterned paper. Unfortunately I don't have any of the AWESOME new glitter buttons from American Crafts that Susana is now stocking, so I had to make do with some Glitter Dots for extra "umph". {Not that I don't still love my Glitter Dots, but have you SEEN the American Crafts buttons??}. The ribbon and pink spiral clip are from my stash.

I hope you are inspired to grab your buttons and play along with us this week! I can always go for some well-placed buttons; and they have been neglected in my stamp room lately. So thanks to Suzanne for the challenge! That's it for me today, I'll see you tomorrow though, thanks for stopping by!

Try It Out Tuesday #45 - Button Up!

Since I've been in Florida, I've gotten a new respect for shopping! My dear friend Sonya has it down to a science, just like our very own, fearless and ever talented leader, Suzanne! She challenged us here at Susana's Custom Art and Card Design to use buttons on our projects this week and I decided to go with something bright and fun, just like Sonya and Suzanne!

This beauty is colored with copics and I added some Stickles to her top and some Diamong Glaze to her boots. I framed her with my nestabilities and threaded some Scrapper's Floss through the buttons and ran one of my favorite BasicGrey paper stacks, Junebug, through my cuttlebug. I really love the embossed buttons on the side.

I love this set of images because you can do just about anything with them! Make sure to stop over at Susana's store blog and see what my design team buddies came up with for you. You'll be guaranteed to be inspired! So go and button up and shop till you drop!

Card Ingredients:

Suzanne from the Everyday Gal Collection from Victoria Case for Susana's Custom Art and Card Design, Junebug paper from BasicGrey, Scrapper's Floss, cuttlebug embossing folders, Stickles, Diamond Glaze, buttons from stash

Magical TIOT

Good Morning and Happy Thanksgiving!! Our challenge this week was to use buttons. We could just use one or however many we wanted.

Atlantia is such a pretty stamp, I feel like I didn't do her justice. My granddaughter's birthday is in a couple of weeks. She will be 5 years old and we all know how little girls like fairies and princesses. As other 5 year olds she likes lots of glitz. I stamped and embossed the image and colored her with Copics. Her hair was highligted with Gold Inspirations. I also used the inspiration on her belt. Atlantia's wings and pearls were painted with frost white Shimmerz. I used stickles on her wings and the flowers in her hair, added little gems on the edge of her gown and painted around the entire image with twinkling H2O. I just happen to have a green heart button for the challenge and went with the CTMH dp just perfectly.

The inside is pretty basic and simple. I used nestabilities for the scallop circles and outlined each one with a gem. The sentiment is a Pink Cat Studio - Fairy Friends. Susana has this stamp set on sale right now at a 20% discount.

Please go to the store blog and check out the other DT samples. They are super fabulous.

Thank you for stopping by. I wish all of you a very HAPPY THANKSGIVING !!!

Try It Out Tuesday #45- Buttons

This week's challenge is to use buttons on your creations! Lots of buttons!! How fun!! Have you seen the fun new buttons that Susana has in her store?? Be sure to check them out!
Be sure to check out Susana's store blog, Follow Your Heart, to see how you can play along with us and also to see the fantastic creations from the rest of the design them.

supplies:
What I did:
I started by stamping sweet Susy onto my cardstock with Memento ink and coloring her with copics. I added a few accents with copic glitter pens.

I used a sketch from SCS, SC255, for the layout. Picked my papers, cut it all out, adhered it all and added the buttons.

Button fun

Happy Tuesday to you all and it's time for another Try it out Tuesday!
TIOT is all about using buttons on your cards/projects.

Well - I do love my buttons from the Eskimo Kisses range - so I had to use them of course.
Oh - and of course the matching DPs in the Eskimo Kisses range :-)
Also - you NEED to check out the glitter buttons that Susana has in store for us.... they are a MUST HAVE!!
I decided to make a triangle box - since they are so easy and fun to make (thanking my sweet friend Iris for learning me how to create one).

Coloured Lily and Billy with my copics. I do hope that you've noticed that Susana has refills for the most popular copic colours. Higlighted spots on the image with 3d gloss and white inkssentials pen.

Cut out snowflakes with my punch. Added the buttons and tied a knot with brown scrappers floss on each and one of them. Closed the box with ribbon from my stash and then I added the sentiment - from Aud design - God Jul 24/12 = Merry X-mas (since Santa arrives on the 24th in Sweden).

Hope you like it and make sure that you check what the rest of the DTs have been up to. I'm sure I will :-)

Writing Letters Gift Set

Lockhart Notecard Set

I have to tell you I had so much fun creating this notecard gift set that I will be making more for gifts this holiday season for sure (I'll share the Xmas one I did later next week)!!  We (and I do not excuse myself from this) have really gotten away from writing notes and letters to each other!  It's always so much easier to write an email nowadays, but I kinda miss getting letters from friends.  When I was younger I had a pen-pal in Italy (the country I most want to visit) and we wrote all the time and it was really fun!  My mom has had a pen pal for like 40 years--wow--and they still write, which is so cool I think!

So for this set I used the fabulous Lockhart Stamp Co. "Writing Letters" stamp--perfect for notecards.  I kept the colors simple & elegant--taupe/kraft, cream and buttercream yellow.  The patterned papers are from Stampin Up's "Bella Bleu" paper set--these papers are fabulously gorgeous, I just love them!  So these are just basic 4.25x5.5 postcards with some dp and cs--the border was made with one of my favorite Fiskars border punches.  The gift box is called "Desktop Organizer" and it's a Timeless Template from PTI--lots of good uses for this one and really easy to put together too!

I stamped the image on both cream cs and my yellow cs--I colored a bit on the cream cs with my copics, cut it out & layered on top of the yellow image with dimensionals.  Since I kept the color scheme simple this was fast & easy to do.  I made 6 of these postcards with three different sentiments from PTI's "Vintage Picnic" & "Vintage Picnic Sentiments" stamped in SU River-rock ink!

So six postcards & six envelopes fit in here perfectly--you could even create an acetate cover if you wanted to and afterwards when the notecards have been used, you can reuse the pretty box still!

Hope you like this set as much as me, hee hee---and hope it inspires you to create some as well! Have a great weekend!!

Suzanne

A White Christmas!!

SALE ALERT!! Susana has selected Spellbinders Nestabilities on SALE now right HERE! Go check 'em out!

************************

Happy Friday Friends!!  I have had this card flitting in my head for a couple of weeks now & glad to finally get a chance to produce it, hee hee!  I think all white cards are so very elegant especially so for the holidays but VERY HARD to photograph, hee hee!  But you get the idea!  The cardstock is both matte & shimmery from PTI which looks fab embossed with the new holiday CB embossing folders.  And I had to pull out one of my most favorite Lockhart stamps "Snow Tree w/ Birds"--I embossed it with Ranger Holographic Embossing Powder which really shimmers and then did the same around the edges of the oval.

I had to add more sparkle by adding in some stardust Stickles to the tree and a rhinestone to the star on the top!  I circled the oval with rows of white pearls and used my Bow Easy to create the double bow (love this sheer polky-dotted ribbon, need to get more)

The glass ornaments I got at AC Moore for a $1 a piece--WOW!  They make quick & easy ornaments but are so very elegant looking on your tree!  I stamped the Christmas tree and snowflakes with Staz-On White ink and then added some stickles to make it sparkle!  This makes a fabulous gift set for you or for someone special--hope you like it as much as me :o)

Winter Wonderland Mojo #113

{click to enlarge photo}

Happy Thursday to you all in blog land! Hope everyone is having a good week!

I wanted to share a card with you today that I made for a color challenge - Navy, Gray and White. I think I've mentioned a time or ten that I am NOT big fan of winter...although I do like the CONCEPT of winter, LOL, hence I love winter images! Just not...snow on the roads and freezing temperatures. So I knew this sweetie pie would be perfect for today's color combo! My image is a Victoria Case for Susana's Custom Art and Card Design (SCACD), and this image is called Snow Fun, from the Winter Wonderland collection. I stamped her in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on PTI white cardstock and colored with Copic markers. I added white Sparkly Fluff to her boots, mittens and hat, and Stardust Stickles to the highlights of the snow and the snowman.

I made the bow with the Bow Easy - you have heard me rave about this tool before but I'll say it again - I LOVE IT!! I have 2 pieces of grosgrain ribbon, white and navy. I cut them extra long to go around behind my snowflake panel and then made the bow with the Bow Easy. When it was done I had a perfect bow with nice long tails, which I taped behind the precut panel, and viola, a flat bow right in line with my ribbon! I was really pleased with how that turned out! Lots of dimension here too, and the sentiment is from the Elisabeth Bell for SCACD Special Edition Ornament Collection.

This is a sketch challenge card as well, HOW PERFECT is this week's Mojo Monday sketch {MOJO113} for this image?? Loved it!

Hope you enjoy today's card - stay WARM!! :-) Thanks for stopping by!

Try It Out Tuesday #44--We've Got The Blues!

SCACD DT grows again!!! We just wanted to do a shout out to the latest addition to the SCACD DT and she is the wonderfully talented Marti Wills of Pez-a-Doodle!!! We knew Marti’s ability to go outside the box with her art work and her fabulous coloring skills would be a great addition to the talent already on the team. Suzanne and I have known and worked with Marti for awhile now and look forward to her contributions! Hearts and Hugs, Susana

Try It Out Tuesday #44--We've Got the Blues!!

Since today is Tuesday, that means it's another "Try It Out Tuesday Challenge #44" for Susana's Custom Art & Card Design and this week I've challenged the DT to create projects that incorporate BLUE! I just had to use this fabulously, fun new stamp by Elisabeth Bell for SCACD "Marianne" (she's named after Susana's trainer, hee hee)--oh how I wish I looked this good when I worked out hee hee! I'm usually in ratty gym clothes, no makeup & sweatin' up a storm, LOL! But I decided to create a workout/weight loss journal, a gym bag tag and a matching charm bookmark! The dp is by Deja Views, ribbon is American Crafts and the shimmery cs is by Bazzill and the images colored with Copics.

I covered & altered one of the MANY journal notebooks I always keep around--this one is cool since it has a pocket on the inside & back covers to stick recipes or notes to yourself. The fun sentiment is from Stamping Bella--appropriate dontcha' think? A fun set for yourself or for a friend to get them motivated!! (umm... maybe I should gift it to myself since my work-out motivation is lagging, lol)

I used my Shrinky Dink paper to create a work-out girl charm along with some other beads to create a charm for the end of the bookmark. After shrinking her I painted her with shimmery Inspirations Paints--love those! Now make sure and scroll down to see the rest of the Blue Projects by the DT--they may be all BLUE but they're sure to make you SMILE!!

hugz,
Suzanne

TIOT # 44 ~Marianne

The challenge for this Try It Out Tuesday is to use the color blue together with one neutral color.
I've used the fabuous new image Marianne from the Sampler Edition #2 by Elisabeth Bell for SCACD. Colored as usual with my Prismacolor pencils. The sentiment is a piece of a printed fabric from my stash.

Welcome to a New Try It Out Tuesday Challenge!!!

Good Morning!!!  Our Try It Out Tuesday Challenge for this week is..."I've Got the Blues".  You are to create a card/project that includes a stamped image and any mix of blues and one neutral and/or metallic, such as silver or gold.  For my card, I chose to use one of the beautiful images from the Elisabeth Bell Sampler Edition #2  made exclusively for Susana's Custom Art and Card Design.  This charming image is...Cherry Blossom...and since I am part Japanese (actually Okinawan), I fell in love with this exotic beauty right away!  I selected a Paper Studio DP called Cute Blue Patchwork to show the varied shades of blue.  For my neutral color, I chose white; and for my metallic color, I selected a pretty copper card stock called Penny Paper by DCWV.  Miss Blossom was heat embossed and colored with Prismacolor markers.  A touch of Stickles was added to the blossoms on her wonderful outfit.  You know me...I am addicted to the sparkly stuff...even if it is only a little.  The sentiment is computer generated and is pronounced ko-nee-chee-wa.  It means "Hello" in Okinawan...actually, the formal meaning is good afternoon, but many people use it more loosely as an hello:o)  I know the card is pretty bad, but time did not permit me to make another one:o(  Sorry!!!  I will do better next week...that is, if all goes well with mom's surgery this Thursday.  Please, say a prayer for her if you can.

I hate to cut this post short, but I have another long day ahead of me.  I do hope you plan to join in on the fun and play along with us in this week's challenge!  Remember to use the keyword/tag TIOT44 when uploading your masterpiece to SCS or PCP.

Have a fabulous Tuesday!!!

Hugs!!!
Carolyn

Feeling BLUE for this week's TIOT

Not blue as in "sad", but blue as in hues! Today's TIOT challenge was to use blues and one neutral color. I always have a hard time with sticking to just one main color, but Atlantia from the new Elisabeth Bell Sampler Edition #2 lends herself very well to a single color and what better color than blue since she's every bit the water goddess!

Here's what I came up with using this week's MOJO113 sketch: Since I couldn't do much by way of coloring I opted to just highlight parts of her with Moonlight Smooch (I know! I know! I use Moonlight all the time but it's the perfect color for ANYTHING!) on her hair and the shells of her chain belt. I also added Silver Stickles on just the swirls of her wings.

If you haven't already taken a look at the new Elisabeth Bell stamps over at SCACD then head on over there right now and grab up your favorites! You won't be disappointed!

Card Recipe:

Stamps: SCACD Atlantia

Ink: Versamark

Paper: K & Company La Boutique pad, Prism Blue Steel metallic cs, SU Very Vanilla cs

Accessories: Moonlight Smooch, silver Stickles, Spellbinders, Stone Blue ep, blue satin ribbon, Swirls Cuttlebug ef

Try It Out Tuesday #44--I've got the blues

Our challenge this week is "I've got the blues". We are to use any mix of blues and one neutral and/or metallic (like silver or gold).
Be sure to check out Susana's store blog, Follow Your Heart, to see how you can play along and also to see the other wonderful team members creations!
I also wanted to welcome Marti to the team!!  She is so creative and will be a great asset to the team!
I just love these new Elisabeth Bell for SCACD Sampler #2 images...they are so fun!!

supplies:
What I did:
This was a rare occasion when I picked my paper first. I wanted to be sure I had the right shades of blue when I colored my image.
I stamped Boho Chic in Memento ink onto my cardstock and colored her with copics. I added some accents with copic glitter pens. I chose the wrong color for the flowers in her hair as you can hardly see them but a little sparkle helped a bit.

I cut out my image with my new Labels Four Nestabilities. Before I took the image out of the nesties I sponged VersaMagic Aspen Mist around the edges.
After I had cut my designer paper for the front of the card I used my older than hills Fiskars corner edgers to decorate the corners.
To finish the card I added some fiber and embellishments.

Try It Out Tuesday #44 - I've Got the Blues - Boho Chic Style

I've got the blues and there's not much except some coloring that will help it! So our challenge this week for Follow Your Heart, thrown down by our favorite Design Team Leader, Suzanne, was to create something with lots of blue and a neutral color. I chose gold because it shimmers and shines!

Boho Chic is one of the fabulous creations from the Sampler #2 Collection from Elisabeth Bell for Susana's Custom Art and card design and I though she totally fit my mood this evening. A bit bohemian and relaxed, just looking like she's loving life.

I colored her with copics and believe it or not, about the only thing I used on her was some Smooch! I love the red on her toe nails! The paper is from My Mind's Eye and I added just a bit of gold cord and a bow and star charm. I love the Prima flower in the corner and the gold pearls in the corner. Pretty tame for me!

Make sure to stop by our store blog and see the inspiring collections that my desig team buddies have come up with. They never dissappoint you when you stop by for a cup of inspiration! So go around and get the blues!

Card Ingredients

Boho Chic from Sampler #2 from Elisabeth Bell for Susana's Custom Art and Card Design, copics, My Mind's Eye paper, Blue Moon Charms, Prima Flowers, gold cord, SU ticket punch, gold pearls, Smooch

i've got the blues...and i like it!

Hello everyone!

Marti here - susana has been gracious enough to invite me to join her Design Team and i am just thrilled! we have been friends for some time and have always worked together - so it feels natural to be on board *officially*! of course i hope to do her proud and certainly hope y'all enjoy the projects i create!

This week Suzanne challenged everyone to use all blues and ONE neutral or metallic. well i LOVE LOVE LOVE me some blue, especially in the winter, so the onyl hard thing here was narrowing down WHICH of my ideas i wanted to use!

So here is what i settled on:

i am always pairing up blue and silver but today i decided to pair the blue up with gold and i LIKE IT! the 2 mats are both done with alcohol inks and then cuttlebugged - the top piece is Ranger Glossy paper and the bottom is silver duct work tape - i wanted to try this out but i prefer my tin foil over cardstock method. after embossing the top piece i went over the raised images with galaxy gold brilliance ink to bring out the snowflakes a bit more. it would not stick to the bottom piece :( the snowflake embellie is cut using the cricut and joys of the season cartridge.

My fairie is *Would you be my friend* from the Fairie Song Art Stamp collection Susana carries - i remember when she first got these in! She is not actually a winter fairie but it is pretty easy to make slight adjustments! i covered the flowers above her face with Polar White Flower Soft and the icy blue on her outfit makes me think of wintertime! The Polar White Flower Soft is WONDERFL for creating a soft snowy effect with almost no effort!
She is stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black colored with Copics and then i painted her wings and dress with the gorgeous Creative Inspirations paints Susana added to her store not very long ago. These have fast become one of my favorite ways to add some instant pizzazz! the colors are just brilliant and they really pack some shimmer too!
so glad you took some time to visit us today! i hope your week is wonderful!
