Try It Out Tuesday #25 - Red, White and Blue!

Sorry for this being late, but I had to work at school later last night and when I got home and was going to work on my card, Tiffany and Chris and the baby showed up early from Virginia for the weekend! Gotta have as much Nana time as I can get. We
re going to have a wonderful weekend and celebrate my granddaughters first birthdays together. What a wonderful celebration!

When I think of the 4th of July, I think of two things - barbeques and the beach! Two of life's most precious pleasures if you ask me! The barbeques are held with friends and family and the beach can be a great thing to do with friends or on your own. I've been talking with my friend Sonya so much lately and it's brought back such great memories of both of these fun activities. We'd go to the beach and spend so much time out in the sun playing and relaxing and having a blast. Loved the swimsuits back then, but I really liked my body much more back then than I do now!

It's Tuesday and that's Try It Out Tuesday at Follow Your Heart! Suzanne challenged us on Susana's Design Team for Susana's Custom Art and Card Design (SCACD), to make a card with red, white and blue and I knew exactly the stamp I wanted to do and what I wanted to do with it. I chose Roxy from Rubber Romance and designed the card in the shape of a beach ball! Yep, I'd chose the beach with friends or by myself! I colored her with copics and used my spica glitter pen for the pole on the umbrella and added some Glossy Accents to the umbrella and her yellow polka dot bikini to give it some shine. I added some white Smooch to the inside of the umbrella. Love my new flower punch (I need to pick up the larger punches too!) and put some rhinestones, red, white and blue, in the middle and tied the side together with a red bow. Pretty easy, but I think she came out great!

Make sure you stop over at Follow Your Heart and take a look at the gorgeous and fun cards and projects my fellow DT buddies have come up with. They're absolutely fabulous! And until later, make sure you take care of that itsy bitsy teeny weeny yellow polka dot bikini!

Card Ingredients:

Roxy by Rubber Romance, Smooch, Kaisercraft Rhinestones, Glossy Accents, nestabilities, cricut, EK Success Flower Power punch, Spica Glitter Pen, ribbon, copics.

Try It Out Tuesday #25--Red, White & Blue!!

Hi & Happy Tuesday to ya! Today is Try It Out Tuesday for Susana's Custom Art & Card Design so check out all the details below!

This week is "Try It Out Tuesday" #25 and I challenged the DT to make a creation using Red, White & Blue since July 4th is just around the corner! Do you have some awesome plans to celebrate the 4th? We'll still be in Hilton Head Island whooping it up until the 5th, hee hee! I used one of the cutie-patooties "Julia" from Anki's Sweethearts for SCACD-Series 2! I decided to have her cheer on the "4th" very patrioctically! The dp is from Melissa Frances "Lil' Man" and I used my Stampin Up star punches for the accents & topped some off with glitterdots! The sentiment is from PTI's "Mega Mixed Messages". The entire card got a nice big spritz of Baby's Breath Shimmerz Spritz!

To make her lil' pom-poms pop more I added some fun Sparkle Fluff in blue & red--so fuzzy soft & very sparkly IRL! Such a fun & easy product to use--check it out HERE! Now make sure & hop all the way down to see the rest of the DT's red, white & blue creations!!

hugz,

Suzanne

TIOT #25

When you see this card, I'm still on vacation in Greece, pre-posting is a great thing!

Our Tuesday challenge at the SCACD design team this week is to make a card with the colors red, white and blue. It's the 4th of July soon, and the Americans have their Independence day to celebrate! I must say that using these colors brings feelings and thoughts about our Independence day celebrations over here in Norway, on the 17th of May. We have the same colors in our flag, and we use them a lot on the 17th of May. Smiley from millan.net Smiley from millan.net

Well, on my card I used the lovely image Follow Your Heart from Victoria Case for Susana's Custom Art & Card Design, the Hearts and Hugs Collection. The Petaloo Dazzlers combined with punched flowers was enough embellishments on this card.

I hope all of my American friends will have a fabulous 4th of July!

Red White Blue

Whoo hooo, Spotlight Stamper! How cool is that? I am so stoked to get to work along side this DT, even if it is just for a week!

So, here is my creation for TIOT! I used Belle from the VC4SCACD Collection. She is so sweet. I think she's getting ready for a fabulous 4th of July performance, don't you? I used some Smooch on her ballet slipper ribbons, along the top of her leotard, and on the flowers in her hair. Smooch is so much fun to work with - Just the right amount of shine, and dries super quick. I am forever sticking my fingers into 'not quite dry' stuff on my cards. I cut Belle and her layers with the Oval and Scallop Oval Nestabilities. The stars were cut with my sizzix (had to dust that baby off) and I added the faux stitiching. I love the lil somethin' extra it adds.

TIOT25 - Lily Goes Red, White and Blue!

Welcome to Tuesday! Today we have an extra-special, extra-patriotic Try it out Tuesday challenge from Susana's Custom Art and Card Design! This week on the SCACD blog we can see in ONLY red, white and blue!

Here is my creation, it's a 4.25" square card featuring LILY from Pink Cat Studio, along with Tweet of course. This image is from the Lily & Tweet plate, available for the amazing price of $12.50 from SCACD! I stamped the darlings with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copic markers. I added some highlights with the Ranger white gel pen when all the coloring was done. Cut and matted using Classic Oval Nestabilities. The rhinestones are Kaisercraft Diamond, and I used the same Copic marker that I colored her dress with to custom-color them to fit my palette. This is one of my FAVORITE tricks with the Copic markers - that you can customize so many different embellishments to the perfect color using them. They work on SO many surfaces, especially the plastic of the Bella Baubles, rhinestones, buttons, etc. -- I do it all the time!

Hope you find the time to play along with us during this holiday week! Color challenges are always fun and you can incorporate a 4th of July theme too if you are so inclined! Thanks for stopping by today, have a great week and a great holiday!

LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL.....

Well HELLO and welcome to another TIOT (Try it out Tuesday)!!!

This week, the very talented Suzanne, challenged the designers to create a card using ONLY the colors Red, White and Blue!!! WOW this was fun.

This cute image is "Follow Your Heart" from the Victoria Case for SCACD collection....isn't she just ADORABLE???? When we were given this challenge, I knew right away I wanted to use this stamp.

The sentiments are the 4th OF JULY printable stamps collection from THE CUTTING CAFE. I printed the background stamp on cranberry card stock, stamped the balloons and trimmed out the full balloon then added a 3-D foam square to add dimension. I also tied some jute around it.

I inked the image using MEMENTO INK and colored in with COPICS. After I colored in the stamp, I sewed it to my card cover with a piece of blue felt as my mat. I used the Ranger White Inkssentials pen to highlight parts of the hair, shirt and jeans.

HOPE EVERYONE HAS A FABULOUS WEEK!!!!!

Big hugs to all, T

Patriotic Fairy

It's Tuesday, and that means it's time for another Try It Out Tuesday! This week Suzanne has challenged us to use red, white and blue on our projects. I knew I wanted to use this sweet fairy named Sassafras, but I was running low on mojo so I headed over to Friday Sketchers for some inspiration, and they have a great sketch this week. I colored this sweet Fairy with my Copics. Did you know that SCACD has bundles already put together with colors that blend well? This one uses most of the skin colors from the Skin Tones Bundle. There are also some awesome video tutorials by Suzanne! They are all available in the sidebar, so check them out!!

I made this little flower from some organza fabric I had in my stash. I have going nuts making these! For the little photo corners, I colored a couple chipboard corners with a B29 Copic, then I went over it with my Ranger embossing marker and added clear embossing powder. Then I spritzed it heavily with Concrete Spritz. I love the effect of the spritz over embossing - it sort of pools up and then dries in all the little nooks and crannys. It ends up giving it a sort of stone-like look! You'll be seeing more of this in upcoming projects too. And maybe a little tutorial? To finish it all off, I gave the entire card a light spritz of Baby's Breath Spritz.

Here's a couple close up to see some of the effects of the Spritz!

Hugs, Jami

TIOT #25- Red, White and Blue

Our challenge this week was a 4th of July color challenge. We're to use only red, white and blue! How totally fun!
I thought Lily at the beach would be a fun set to use for red, white and blue. If it would stop raining here I know my kids would love to go swimming. Bad part of this area is having the monsoon~rainy season the end of June, beginning of July each year.

You can see the sparkle from the copic glitter pens in this photo a little bit.

supplies:
card size: 5 1/2 x 4 1/4
stamps: Lily at the Beach,
paper: Neenah Solar White,
ink: Memento Tuxedo Black,
others: copics (blonde 2 bundle), copic glitter pens, Cricut, white pen (like this one),

A Red, White and Blue Sweetheart...

When Suzanne issued this fourth of July color challenge, I immediately thought of Isac! Instead of the traditionally bright colors of red/white & blue, I went a little more muted, aiming toward a more masculine card! Isac is definitely the star of this 'show' as the only embellishment used is a old brass button found in my grandma's button jar! It even has a ring of stars on it!!
I hope you have an opportunity to play along with us today and make your own red, white & blue card!
Blessings, Maria

We remember moments

and that's what 4th of July is about - isn't it? So for this weeks TIOT - we should make a card/project using the colours Red, White and Blue.

I decided to go all the way - and colour my image "Just because" from VC collection in only these colours. I also made the sky go in red, blue and white :-) I coloured my image with my SU markers and aquarelle brush - to get the feel of an aquarelle painting. Added some 3d gloss her dress, hair and on the blue fungus and stickles on the fly agaric and her wings. Highlights with my white gel pen. Sentiment is from the first Susanaments collection.

As you can see - I have only one sheet of DP and that is from the set that I received from my sweet friend Tara. The different cardstock layers - in blue, red and white - are from my stash.

I also added the roses to match this theme. It was hard, but so much fun to stick to these 3 colours - so thank you Suzanne for challenging us again.

Hope you would like to play along - and if so - please upload your card/project using the keyword "TIOT25" on SCS, PCP or add a link to your comment below.

Also - make sure that you visit the rest of the DTs, but also Jana - how is our new Spotlight stamper. Do you want to become one - well read more about it here.

So to all of you out there - hope you will have a wonderful 4th of July celebration. I myself will also celebrate - but we have other moments to remember - 4th of July is the day that hubby and I became a couple some years ago;-)

A red, white and blue TIOT #25!

Welcome to another TIOT for SCACD! With 4th of July just around the corner, we were challenged to use red, white and blue colors on our card. I don't own any patriotic images from SCACD so I emphasized using adorable Catherine from Anki's Sweethearts Series 1. I used this week's Mojo Monday Week 93 sketch and at first I was going to place Catherine in the middle of a star, but then decided she's looked better perched on it :).

Card Recipe:

Stamp: Young Catherine with Friends from Anki's Sweethearts Series 1

Ink: StazOn black

Paper: Karen Foster Designs, SU Real Red cs

Accessories: Spellbinders (Doodle Parts, Classic Large Rectangles, Classic Scallop Large Rectangles), Dress It Up Glitter Dots 14 Karat, Smooch Moonlight (on shirt flower and pants patch), watercolor paper, watercolor markers, Cricut machine, Cricut Plantin Schoolbook cartridge, Sticky Strips

Emilia

Doesn't this cutie make you want to grab your picnic blanket and go on a nice fun picnic?
This is Emilia, another one of the new Anki's Sweethearts Series 2.
I was stumped on a color combo for Emilia and wanted to give a shout out to Alex for her suggestion of yellow and blue.
I used this sketch from the Friday Sketcher's Blog.

supplies:
card size: 5 1/2 x 4 1/4
stamps: Emilia, Susanaments Series 2,
paper: some I've had forever
ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, VersaMark,
others: copics ( auburn bundle), moonlight smooch, CM cutting system, oyster bella baubles, flowers,

X-mas Greetings

We've had such warm and wonderful weather here lately so I guess I am suffering from sunstroke - since I ended up making a X-mas card today *lol*.
We have spent almost the whole day at the beach - swimming, playing some beach soccer and of course - just enjoying the sunshine and a nice ice-cream. I decided to make this card -our evening BBQ. I guess I needed something more than just a cool drink to cool off ;-)
I know that many of you are making X-mas cards all year round - and that's great - because I know that you then will be ready when X-mas is here. I always think of doing that myself, but there is always something in the way - at least I have this one now...hihi.....
Anyway - back to the card. I had not coloured little Alicia from my very first Anki's Sweethearts serie - so she had to be my main image. Coloured her with my copics and used the wonderful DPs from Basic Grey. Added a sentiment from my SU kit and cut out some snowflakes with my punch and added a snowflake charm. Oh- and I added some flowersoft on her coat and on the ground.
It was very fun to make a X-mas card this early. Now I am ready for a refreshing shower - it's steeming hot inside as well and something more to drink.
Kramis and hope you all have had a wonderful weekend as well.

Chase Your Dreams!

Welcome to the weekend! Today I have a fun card to share made with my Victoria Case for SCACD images. Isn't this little Follow Your Heart girl a CUTIE?? I love her smile and her big eyes.

I stamped her with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copic markers. I added some highlights with the Ranger white gel pen when all the coloring was done. The sentiment is from the "Susanaments 2" set that Susana designed to accompany some of her illustrator's collections. Love them! I masked it off to stamp it vertically instead of horizontally and then cut it out using Classic Oval Nestabilities. The background paper strips are Basic Grey Bittersweet. Pink Rhinestones from Kaisercraft, and I covered the oval balloon in the front with a Clear Copic Glitter Pen for some sparkle {didn't show up so well in the pic}.

Thanks for stopping by today! Hope you are having a wonderful weekend!

SUMMER TIME IS HERE!!!!

HELLO AND HAPPY FRIDAY TO ALL!!!!!!

Today I bring you two cards using these ADORABLE stamps from Pink Cat Studio. This set is called Lily at the Beach and oh all of the stamps are sooooo CUTE and perfect for the summer!!! They can be found at Susana's Custom Art and Card Design.

I also used the NEWLY RELEASED "Summer Circle Words" printable stamp set from THE CUTTING CAFE All 6 circle sentiments come in 1", 1 1/2" and 2" circle for your convenience.

On both of these cards I used Baby's Breath Shimmerz Spritz.....have I told you how much I LOVE this product!!!! I really love the effect it leaves all over the project.

In case you are wondering how I did the bottom part of the mermaid, it's just Iridescent paper I bought at my LSS about 2 years ago. I only really use this paper for my beach layouts. As soon as I saw this mermaid stamp, I new I wanted to use it - it looks AWESOME!!! I stamped the image with Stazon onto the paper, added clear embossing powder, heated it, cut it out and glued to my original stamped image.

Other supplies: Paper, jute and ribbon from Papertrey, Ink; Nestabilities; Petaloo Dazzler flowers; Diamond Glaze; COPIC markers.

Big hugs, T

Fluffy TIOT #24 with tutorial!

I'm up to 4, YES, FOUR BOYS until Wednesday evening...then I'll have 7...SEVEN...kids here (4 boys and 3 girls) until Friday night and it's just going to be little 'ol me! It's a lot of work, but well worth it for the brothers and cousins to be able to spend some time together. I just hope I SURVIVE! LOL!

For today's SCACD TIOT we were challenged to Clearly Summer - using acetate in our project. I decided to make a Fluffy Magic Card which I haven't done in ages! I'm sure there are many different techniques out there for magic cards, but I'll show you how I made mine:
Here's how it came together:

It's very handy to have a Stamp-a-ma-jig when doing this technique to get perfect alignment. I aligned my acetate and acrylic block at the corner of the Stamp-a-ma-jig. Do this for the watercolor paper or cardstock, too.
Color in your image.

After I let the Stickles dry on the flower I placed my stamped acetate over my colored image. I made a folded strip of cardstock to hold the two pieces together.

Create a sleeve for the "magic" by cutting a window on the front and adhering a "screen" to the inside. Front view:

The back will not be shown so there's no need to make it look pretty. Just make sure to seal the back securely.

You want a space between the sleeve and the screen:

Slide your image into the sleeve:

Once you make your first one it's really easy and kids really get a kick out of seeing the "magic" happen right before their very eyes!

Card Recipe:

Stamp: Fluffy from Anki's Sweethearts Series 2

Ink: Staz-On Black

Paper: SU Bella Rose designer series pack, SU cs (Old Olive, Rose Red), watercolor paper

Accessories: Grafix acetate, Dress It Up Color Me Pink buttons, Distress Stickles (Worn Lipstick, Scattered Straw), watercolor markers, hole punch, white satin ribbon, Spellbinders Classic Large Rectangles

I hope my tutorial made you want to try out this technique. I also hope to keep my sanity after this week!

A new Tuesday and a new challenge over at Susana's design team, make a summer card and use transparency/acetate. Well, that's really a challenge, the acetate part, I think I've used it a couple of times before...
On my card today I used the cute Emilia from Anki's Sweethearts Series 2 for SCACD, cut her out with a Nestabilities die. For the transparency part of the challenge I used butterflies from I Brake For Stamps, stamped with embossing ink and put embossing powder on it, heated it with my heat gun, then cut them out. Put some stickles on the roses and butterfly wings, added Kaisercraft Rhinestones on the butterflies and in a corner of the card.
