Try It Out Tuesday #20--Get Well Rain!!

Happy Tuesday Friends! I'm a little late with my Try It Out Tuesday project because I lost power yesterday for a long time due to storms in our area!! This week I challenged the DT to only color their images by watercoloring! And I must say they all did a fabulous job! I used one of the new Victoria Case for SCACD stamps "Singin' in the Rain" for my project--she's such a cutie! I decided to make this a Get Well card cuz' we can always use those! The papers are from Paper Trey Ink as is the sentiment stamp! The pearls are Bella Baubles (string of pearls) and I used my nestabilities to cut out my sentiment!
I watercolored my image with my SU reinkers and added some fun diamond stickles to the puddles, polka-dots & umbrella for sparkle! I also cut & poppped up my umbrella for even more dimension!

Make sure and scroll down to see all the truly fabulous projects by the DT today!!

lotz of hugz,

Try It Out Tuesday #20 - Watercoloring!

Suzanne gave us one of my favorite challenges for Susana's Custom Art and Card Design Design Team Challenge blog, Follow Your Heart. She gave us water coloring, one of my favorite mediums to color with! Oh, I was happy as a clam!

I've wanted to present "Alexa", one of the new Victoria Case for SCACD, these adorable stamps exclusive at Susana's store. I love this little free spirit and she reminds me of my Nichole, all ready to take on a cause and give it her all. I think every family has one of those!

Alexa was stamped on watercolor paper with Staz-On in Jet Black and I used Tim Holtz distressed inks and reinkers to color her with. I love the watercolor effect and had such a great time painting her flowers. I used some Flower Soft, one of my favorite embellishments lately, and Smooch (love that stuff too!), and I just couldn't hold back my stickles! I used the sketch from MoJo Monday and this is one I know I'll use again!

Here's a close up of her tie-dyed top. I think it was perfect to watercolor! Such fun that was! Hope you enjoy this beauty.

And don't forget to go over the the Stamp Out Alzheimer's site. It's an important stamping event that offers a great way to raise money to fight this horrific disease that robs our loved ones of their wonderful memories and precious minds. This is a week filled with great sketches challenges, prizes and just a great way to use our craft to help raise money to rid us of this terrible disease and keep our loved ones with their memories as long as possible.

Card Ingredients:

Alexa by Victoria Case for SCACD, Smooch, Flower Soft, Tim Holtz distressed inks, K&Company Designer Paper, Stickles, ribbon, Kaisercraft Rhinestones

TIOT20 - Watercolored Alexa!

I love Tuesdays! For Try it out Tuesday this week Suzanne challenged us to WATERCOLOR. Wow, I haven't busted out the watercoloring supplies in an AGE {can't you tell??}! For this project I reached for one of the newest girls in my life, Alexa from the new Hearts and Hugs collection by Victoria Case for SCACD. These little sweeties are SO adorable and just a joy to color. Susana has an amazing deal on these images, if you buy the set of all 9 stamps you save almost 25% off the retail price of the individual images. Gotta love a savings and really, you need all the stamps anyway. SO CUTE!

I stamped her in Memento Tuxedo Black onto watercolor paper, then colored with watercolor crayons and an aquapainter. Added some touches with the with the white gel pen of course. One of my favorite tools! I made the background clouds with a cloud template and sponged ink. What are you waiting for?? Bust out those watercoloring supplies and play along with us! Any form of watercoloring will do - watercolor crayons, pencils, ink, Shimmerz paints, etc.

Don't forget that the Stampin' out Alzheimer's challenges are going on now and there are some fabulous prizes to be won, including a full set of these Victoria Case for SCACD stamps {plus other goodies too!} from Susana's store. And the best part is...100% of the proceeds go directly to the Alzheimer's Association! Donate today by clicking the widget there in the right-hand sidebar and get stamping! Good luck.
Thanks for stopping by today, we'll see you next week!

Try It Out Tuesday #20 -- Lavender

Hello everyone and Happy Tuesday :) Today is Tuesday so that means it's another Try It Out Tuesday Challenge here at Susana's store blog. Our challenge this week was to color our images using watercolors only, no copics (yikes!!!) :) To tell the truth, I've never water colored before. I did have a blender pen from SU and several SU inkpads, so I decided to watercolor using SU inks and my blender pen. I'm not the best at water coloring, so I decided to pick a smaller image that didn't require much coloring :):):)

I used this elegant Patio Lavender Karen Lockhart Image as my main image. I colored it with my SU inks (Creamy Caramel, Wild Wasabi, and Close to Cocoa), and then added Lavender Flower Soft to the flowers. I then created my card base, which measures 4 1/4 by 5 1/2, out of SU's Perfect Plum. I layered my design paper (also from SU) on top of that followed by my cardstock (which I ran through my Cuttlebug machine using the Swiss Dots embossing folder). I then adhered my image to my cardstock and to the card base with dimensionals. For some finishing touches, I added Primas, purple rhinestones, and a lavender ribbon and bow. What do you think?

Well, that's it from me today. Don't forget to scroll down to check out the rest of the DT's amazing creations. Thank you so much for stopping by. Have a wonderful day! :)

Hugs, Christine

Try It Out Tuesday #20 ~ Belle

Try It Out Tuesday today was to use watercolors on our images. I colored with Distress Inks. I got this gorgeous ballerina in the mail today, and I just had to use her on a card right away! It's the pretty Belle from Victoria Case for SCACD, Hearts and Hugs collection. The big flower is Prima's Dandies. I used a Nestabilitie die to cut the image out.

Good Morning folks. Today is my last TIOT (Try It Out Tuesday)for Susanas Custom Art and Card Design. It has been a real pleasure to work with the lovely girls on the DT. They have made me feel so welcome. Thanks so much for having me on board this month.

Suzanne from Scrap Bitz set us the challenge of watercolouring. I decided to use Isaac and his skateboard as I needed to make a card for my Son's birthday next week and he has asked for a skateboard!! Thanks Anki for this fabulous image :)
I coloured him with a mixture of distress inks and SU markers which I used with a waterbrush. The skateboard has a layer of gloss on it for a bit of dimension.I have used Basic Grey recess papers which are wonderful to fall back on for a boys card. I have added twine and some gentle distressing for a bit of texture.
I am not entirely happy with the layout of this card..I just couldn't get it all to work together. Some cards just happen really quickly and others takes hours of playing and pulling things apart then putting them back together..well this is one of them! But I know my son, Jude will love it!
Hope you all have a great day,
Judy x

Stamp : Anki 's Sweethearts from SCACD
Medium: distress inks and SU Markers
Papers: Basic Grey RecessTools: SU notepaper punch, star Sizzix die, Around the Block tape Writer
Embellishments: SU brads, garden twine,

Forever Friends

First of all - thank you Suzanne for making me bringing out my SU markers again (that I do love so much). The reason is that this TIOT is all about watercolouring - using water colours, SU markers, distress inks.....well - anything that goes with water ;-)

When I first got my SU markers from my sweet friend Elizabeth in Chicago - I was not sure if I was going to like them. You see - I started colouring with my regular aquarelle colours (that I used for paintings earlier) when I started with cardmaking (fall-07). Then Elizabeth told me that I could get the aquarelle touch using the SU markers and water. Well - she was right and from then on I just could not live without them.
Then I needed of course to try copics - as you have seen in my previous postings for some months now ;-) I guess - a girl can't have enough colouring options - it's like make-up - you need to try the latest product on the market - right???

Anyway - back to this weeks TIOT. I decided to make a folder card this time. So I got my pink cardstock out and the DPs from Basic Grey Sugar collection. Chalked around the edges with pine cone ink. I coloured the brand new "Nuts for you" image from the VC collection with my SU markers and aqua paint brush. Burnt the edges - well- it still smells like fire indoors ;-))
Added her on 3d dots on the different DP layers. Glued her to the folder card - note - not the whole part.
The three hearts are from SU. Stamped them with Memento Ink - Rich Cocoa - as well as the Susanament "Forever Friends". Added Prima roses and Bella Baubles.
Here's a picture of the inside and from the side- note the velcro on the lower part. One piece is also behind the image. This makes it easy to open and close the folder card - almost like a little purse.

Hope you would like to play along. If so - please upload your card to SCS or PCP using the keyword "TIOT20".

Happy Tuesday everyone!

Anki

Try It Out Tuesday #20- Watercolor

Our challenge for today is Water, Water Everywhere!! Watercolor Only--must color image with any sort of watercoloring (ie, w/ Shimmerz, Twinkling H2O's, SU markers/reinkers, distress inkers, etc.)
I must admit I almost asked if I could take this week off as watercolor is not my best coloring medium but then I remembered, this is a challenge and it's called that for a reason, to challenge you! So I challenged myself to take the challenge! LOL!
Here's my creation~ I did "cheat" and did the skin tones with regular prismacolor pencils but the hair, skirt and doggie are watercolored.

Supplies:
card size: 5 1/2 x 4 1/4
stamps: Ally,
paper: some from my scraps,
ink: VersaFine Onyx Black,
others: prismacolor watercolor pencils, lavender copic glitter pen, script cuttlebug embossing folder, matte lilac bella baubles, Dress It Up Color Me Love button, CM fine tip pen,

French Country Apron!

Happy Friday everyone and Yay to the Holiday 3-day weekend (for those in the US)!!

Okay, over the many years of crafting I've made millions of projects but I have to say that today's goes down as my "MOST FAVORITE" and there is hardly any copic coloring (gasp)!! I just adore how this turned out & its so "me"-my favorite colors & very french country (the rooms in my house are all these colors)!! It was also super fun to put together & make :o) And this Vintage Apron by Lockhart reminds me of an apron my mom used to wear growing up (although she doesn't wear them anymore)--I just love it! I'm thinking of making a recipe box with these papers for my own kitchen, hmmmm....!

The dp is from my new stash of Graphic 45 papers which I just adore--I knew when I saw them at CHA this past January that I would HAVE to have them, LOL! You can get the paper and this fun wine/cookie cylinder at Emma's Paperie (love that store)!! If you really, really love this and want to buy it, I might be able to give it up, hee hee!! (email me)

The card uses this week's Mojo Monday sketch #87 and I used Lockhart's new "Vintage Apron"--which I had so much fun paper piecing! I made my sentiment tag with my Nestabilities Labels 4 (love that shape) and distressed all the papers with my Inkssentials blending tool! And I had to add some fun Kaiser pearls to the apron & card to finish it off!

I wrapped the cylinder with my paper and took out the rope-like string that was in it & replaced it with this beautiful ribbon that I got free from Emma's for placing my order--it looks so pretty! I added another tag which uses the PTI's "Mega Mixed Messages" sentiment. These cylinders come in packs of 2 for only $3.59(a large & small)--I used the small size and you could fill it with all sorts of goodies! The large would hold a wine bottle.

So let me know what you think of this project today--you likee? I'll be back tomorrow with a last post until Tuesday! Hope you all enjoy your Memorial Day weekend!!

hugz,

Suzanne

Try It Out Tuesday #19--May Flowers!!

Hello & Happy Tuesday fellow stampers!!

Today is Try It Out Tuesday for Susana's Custom Art & Card Design--and I challenged the DT to a "May Flowers" challenge. So they had to use stamped images with flowers and/or flower embellies! I pulled out my new Lockhart "Patio Pots" stamps to use on a set of notecards--2 of each (6 total) with envies in a decorated card box!

I kept the layout simple and stamped my images on PTI's kraft cs--coloring on kraft cs with your Copics gives such a neat effect. The kraft soaks up more of the ink & gives a more subtle coloring, really nice! The kraft was embossed with my CB swiss dots folder and the colored cs is all by PTI too.
This image is Lockhart's "Patio Pot--English Daisy"--I just love these images, elegant & so many occasions to use them for! I colored with Copics and then added flower soft (in lemon & sunshine yellow) to the flowers. The flower centers are done with my white sharpie poster paint pen (extra fine tip, the best white pen on the market, I swear)!!

This image is Lockhart's "Patio Pots--Lavender" and I added flower soft to this image also.

The last image is "Patio Pots--Petunias" and I colored the flowers with pink poinsettia Shimmerz on top of the Copics!
Boxed them up in a clear box and made a tag with my Labels 4 Nestabilities--the sentiment is from PTI's "Spring Tag Collection" set. I just wrapped with ribbon & then threaded my tag & button with Scrappers Floss and tied off! Just a lovely set to give someone--Whatcha' think?

Now make sure and scroll down to see the rest of the DT's fabulous flower power creations!!

hugz,
Suzanne

Try It Out Tuesday #19 ~ Flowers

This week we were to use flowers on our cards for the DT challenge, like flowers in the image, on the papers and our embellishments. I picked an image with lots of flowers, it's called Tea for Two from Victoria Case for SCACD, Hearts and Hugs collection, fantastic new stamp designs, they are so much fun to work with!
The sentiment is also from SCACD, see them here: Susanaments. The flowers I've used on my card are from Susana's, (except the tiny yellow roses.) I had to put some Kaisercraft Rhinestones on my card, like I do on almost every card I make these days!

Try It Out Tuesday #19 - May Flowers

It’s Tuesday so that means it’s Try It Out Tuesday at Follow Your Heart, Susana’s Custom Art and Card Designs store blog! This week Suzanne, our super Design Team Leader, charged challenged us with using flowers. Well, I can do flowers!

I look out my window and I see some green and brown, but not much color. The weather here in Maine is so strange that you never know when to expect some color to come up. So I made my own! I used “Dear Diary” one of the new adorable stamps from Victoria Case for Susana's Custom Art and Card Design (SCACD), exclusively at Susana's store! I just adore her! She is from the first series entitled "The Hearts and Hugs Collection" and there are also ten Susanaments that just match this new line so perfectly.
She's colored with copics and I used some Azure Smooch on her dress, Shimmerz on her butterfly in her hair and some Flower Soft along the trunk of the tree. Don't you just love that gorgeous Petaloo Mulberry Wild Rose on top? And everyone knows how I love the Retro Paper Pack from Dovecraft, also exclusively at SCACD! Who couldn't get lost in reading and dreaming in your own private garden?! I used to write in my diary along the banks of a creek in our small town when I was growing up in West Virginia. You can go anywhere when you have your thoughts with you!

I hope you enjoy our little bit of flowery spring time being brought to you! Make sure you stop by the store blog and see the other wonderful cards my fellow DT members have in store for you!
Card Ingredients:

Dear Diary by Victoria Case for SCACD's Hearts and Hugs Collection, Susanaments by SCACD, Smooch, Petaloos Mulberry Rose, Bella Baubles, Flower Soft, Retro Paper Pack from Dovecraft, Shimmerz, copics, Jelly Roller Glaze pen,

Try It Out Tuesday #19 - Forever Flowers

It's Tuesday - woo hoo!! For this week's Try it out Tuesda #19, our challenge was May Flowers - flower up those projects until they are almost to the point of pollen overload!! That's a challenge I can get behind! I used this adorable new image from Victoria Case for SCACD called Forever Friends. Don't these two cuties look like they are having fun?!?

I stamped my image in Memento Tuxedo Black, and colored with Copic markers. I hand drew the background line and sponged green underneath and added clouds above using my cloud template. Instead of just coloring in the individual flowers all around these two, I went through and added some glue and shook on some Spring Mix Flower Soft. I think it looks more like a bloom of wildflowers surrounding their little party!

I colored a second butterfly wing and cut it out, then added it over the top of the main image using dimensionals. I cut the panel using Labels 4 Nestabilities and mounted it on a Petite Oval. I ran the red piece through the Cuttlebug with Swiss Dots for some more texture and cut the edge with a scalloped border punch. Snipped off the corners and added some Kaisercraft Rhinestones. The colors I used are Summer Sun, Riding Hood Red and Wild Wasabi. I pulled the color palette for the image from the Flower Soft mixture.

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you play along with our challenge for this week! The Victoria Case stamps are now available in the SCACD store, in fact I just ordered a couple myself last night! Head over and get some, they are TOO cute!! Susana has the best customer service and she ships SO fast - as always I was a customer before I was ever working for her so I know what I'm talking about, heehee!

See you next week!
~Jennifer

Try It Out Tuesday # 19 -- Follow Your Heart

Hi everyone and Happy Tuesday :) Today is Tuesday, which means its another Try It Out Tuesday challenge here at Susana's store blog. Our challenge this week was to use lots of flowers in our image, papers, and embellies. For my card, I decided to ink up this adorable image from the brand new line by Victoria Case, available exclusively at Susana's Custom Art and Card Design. This particular image is called Follow Your Heart. Isn't she just a cutie patootie :) I inked her up with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, stamped her onto PTI cardstock and colored her with copics. I added Diamond Stickles to the balloons, and Diamond Glaze to her eyes (this gives the eyes a really nice, shiny effect). I then inked around my image with SU's Bashful Blue ink.

Next, I created my card base, which measures 5 1/2 by 5 1/2, out of SU's Apricot Appeal. I layered Pretty in Pink on top of that followed by my design paper from DCWV's Nana's Nursery Baby Girl line. I then adhered my image to my cardstock and to the card base with dimensionals. For some finishing touches, I added Primas and orange rhinestones. What do you think?

Well, that's it from me today. Thanks so much for stopping by. Make sure to scroll down to see the amazing creations of the rest of Susana's DT. Have a wonderful day :)

Big Hugs, Christine :)

TIOT - Flower Power!!

Well, the theme of this weeks challenge is flowers..flowers in your images, flowers as embellishments and maybe even flower soft!I have used as my image another one of the cutie images from the Victoria Case Hearts and Hugs Collection. She is called...'Nuts For You!' and is available exclusively at Susanas store.

She is coloured with prisma colour pencils and I have added little tiny sparkly crystals to the middle of the flowers. It really brings the image to life!

All the papers I have used today are from the BG 'Marrakesh' pad. I just loved all the shades of blue available. The layout I have used is from this weeks Ismaki challenge..thanks ladies for a great sketch! I have used my little mini machine a lot in this card...some nights I just can't leave it alone :)

The flowers are all from my stash with a little bling in the centre and finally the sentiment is one of the 'Susanaments' designed with this Hearts and Hugs Collection in mind.
Hope you find time to join us this week!
Hugs Judy xx
Stamps: Nuts for You by Victoria Case for SCACD, 'Susanament'
Medium: prismas, sansador and white ink pen
Papers: BG Marrakesh
Tools: sewing machine
Embellishments: flowers from my box, Hero Arts bling,

Dream big

This week we are supposed to use a lot of flowers. Well - that's easy right - ladies?
We all love flowers - at least if I go around and visit your blogs - then I am sure to find at least one flower on each and one of your cards - right?? :-)

I decided to colour my brand new sweet Belle with my copics- from the Victoria Case collection - exclusive for SCACD. I wanted her little stage to become full of flowers - but then - if I picked too many - then her cute ballerina shoes would not show ;-))

So I just added a few - to look like she just had received them on stage after her little dance performance. All the flowers are from my sweet friend Tara in Canada - thank you sweetie.
(They were in the suprise package she sent me as a thank you for helping her sort out her Magnolia order).

Used the Laura Ashley DP - Contemporary - since they contains a lot of flowers in different soft colours. Chalked around all the edges with pine cone.
Added the Cupcake ribbon and the Susanament "Dream big" - since I think little Belle is dreaming about performing her little dance in front of a large audience one of these days....
Oh - and yes - I added some shimmerz on her little top as well.
Also one other thing - I guess you already have noticed it - but I really have a thing for stamping the images these days with Memento Rich Cocoa. I think it gives the images a more soft look - or what do you think?
Hope that you would like to join us for this weeks TIOT and hope to see your projects soon.
Upload your projects with keyword "TIOT19" on SCS or PCP.
Kramis and make sure to see what the rest of the DTs have been up to.

Try It Out Tuesday #18--A Lil' Birdie!

So today is Tuesday, so that means it's "Try It Out Tuesday"!! I challenged the DT to create cards that were NOT a square or rectangle shape today!! It's always fun to make cards in a different shape & so fun to give & recieve too! I made a gift to go along with my card today. This cute lil' birdhouse was created from a FREE template by Nichole Heady for PTI (ya know I lovee my PTI)--very easy to print & assemble! My cs is from PTI also and the polka-dots were created with PTI's "Polka Dot Basics" for the bg.

My card features this fabulous new Lockhart stamp "Wicker Chair" that I colored with Copics & added some fun polka dots to the chair cushion to match. I used my Nestabilities Labels 1 (now 15% off at Susana's) to make my card shape. Gingham ribbon is from PTI & the rose is from Prima.

I just adore the shape of this birdhouse--so cute! I used my CB embossing folder on the roof to give it texture & then added some ink to distress it a bit. I cut my hole out with a scalloped nestability & covered the window with vellum so the inside was hidden a bit. My birdhouse holds 6 teabags inside, but you could put lots of lil' gifts in there! The flowers are hydrangeas & roses from Prima.
The tag was made using my Nestability Labels 4 (lovee this shape for tags) and stamped PTI's "Tea for Two" sentiment on it and also Lockhart's "IB Birds". Tied a bow thru the roof and thru the tag & added some more Primas.
I made my birdhouse open on one side and it closes with a Basic Grey Magnet--I just added a little tag for the magnet to stick on to. This whole birdhouse was put together with Scor-Tape--so its super strong!! Hope you liked the projects today??

So make sure and scroll down to see the rest of the DT's brilliant creations!!

See ya tomorrow!
hugz,

I'm Glad There is You! - Sketch Challenge

This week we have a sketch which can be interpreted creatively...but must include no rectangles or squares i.e. a shaped card. Eeeekk...right out of my comfort zone. I am a huge fan of squares and rectangles ! LOL!
I have not been very imaginative and have interpreted the sketch quite literally.
I cut the circle and the scalloped circle from my nesties and my hubbie who is quite mathematical and precise drew me an octagon. Thanks sweetie!
I coloured one of Anki's Sweethearts with prismas and blended with Sansador. The sentiment is from Aud Deisgn and is made from different sized circled punches scrunched and then distressed slightly at the edges. The edges of the background paper I have lightly distressed and stitched with my mini sewing machine.
The metallic dewdrops and scrappers floss (on the button) can both be found in Susana's store. I love the metallic dewdrops ...they give your card a bit of extra sparkle.
Thanks for having me as your Guest Designer this month....it is a real privelage.

Try it out Tuesday #18 Tiny Toby and his brothers

The challenge for us at Susana's DT this week was to make a card in any other shape than rectangle or square. I grabbed my drawing pen and made a fence and a tree and stamped cute Tiny Toby by Eat Cake Graphics from Susana's Custom Art & Card Design, colored with ProMarkers and Prismacolor. Added different QuicKutz die cuts, and tiny flowers with Kaisercraft Rhinestones. The sentiment is by Whipper Snapper Designs.
