Hello Everyone & Happy Tuesday! Today is the "Try It Out Tuesday" Challenge #16 and I challenged the DT to "Half-It!" this week. You can only use half of your stamped image on your project! If you'd like to play along, just upload to SCS using the keyword "tiot" & leave a comment on this post with a link so we can see!

Okay, so I'll admit that even I had a hard time with this one, but I persevered! I used a Serendipity stamp "Violets" from Susana's store & cut it out w/ my circle nesties after coloring w/ my Copics--and yes it really was halved (I didn't cheat), the whole bottom portion of it is gone! :o) I used this week's Mojo Monday sketch #84 for the layout which I just loved! The main sentiment is from a Heidi Grace set I've had (got it at AC Moore). The dp is from Chatterbox and the pearls are Kaiser.

I also painted the violets with Iced Lavender Shimmerz and the lovely ribbon is from the Offray outlet! Now make sure and scroll down to see the rest of the DT's creative projects for today!!

hugz,

Suzanne

Try It Out Tuesday #16- 2 halves make a whole

These photos inspired my project today. I took these photos this past weekend while I was driving. I am amazed at how gorgeous Sicily is in the spring time.

Anyone up for a CHALLENGE?? This week the myself and the rest of the Design Team for Susana's Custom Art and Card Design was challenged to create a project/card using only 1/2 an image..........

Now I know what you are thinking. This does not appear to be "unfinished", right? Well being the little rebel that I am, I used 2 images but only used 1/2 of each one........ I first stamped the Vase of Sweet Peas onto white cardstock and colored them. Next I inked only the pitcher portion from the Lilacs in Pitcher stamp and stamped it onto a textured piece of cardstock that I had already embossed using the Textile Embossing folder and my cuttlebug. I added a few highlights with my Copics and cut out the image. I used a craft knife to cut the center from the handle. I love how you can see the flowers through the handle. I adhered the Pitcher using foam squares and then added Flower Soft over the colored flowers. I mixed my Flower Soft to come up with my own color combo. I used the Summer Mix , Lavender and Sunshine Yellow.

I am also loving the Bella Baubles and my new Martha Stewart Punches.

So are you up for a challenge?? I would love to see your interpretation of stamping only part of an image. Need some more inspiration? Check out what the rest of the Design Team has done with this Challenge by visiting the Follow Your Heart Blog
.............Supplies I used...............
Stamps: Karen Lockhart (sweet peas & lilacs in pitcher)
Paper: Stampin Up (kiwi kiss & riding hood red, textured blue), Gina K (pure luxury 120lb white), Designer paper (K&co.)
Tools: Martha Stewart edge punch,
Ribbon: Stampin Up
Misc: Flower Soft (summer mix, sunshine, lavender), Bella Baubles (oyster)

Try It Out Tuesday #16 - Half and Half

Did you ever have one of those weeks were everything seemed to fly right past you and you were left just standing still? That's how I felt this week is going. I'm so sorry about being late with getting my Try It Out Tuesday up. I got called to work at the bowling alley and though I'd have time to get my card up, but I've left my power cord to my camera somewhere and it's MIA right now. I'll have to stop and get one on my way home tonight and doesn't that just get my goat. Can you see something but can't walk over to it? It's like you know just where it it but can't seem to get to it? Can I hear an "Amen!"? That's me today.

When our ever creative and talented Design Team Leader, Suzanne, for Susana's Custom Art and Card Design (SCACD) Follow Your Heart blog, gave us the challenge of cutting an image in half, I got sick to my stomach! I find it difficult to trim around the edges of my images but to cut one in half? Well, that was asking for a lot from me. I had to find the right stamp and it couldn't be one of my faeries or Rubber Romance because those are like buddies and pals to me, kindred spirit, and it couldn't be one of Anki's Sweethearts. I helped give life to those sweeties! So what was it going to be? The only thing I had left were my Shy Bears and everyone hopefully knows how much I adore them. So since it had to be one of them, I picked the biggest one I had, Birdhouse Shy Bear and almost closed my eyes and cut! I tried to keep as much of him as possible and I think I did a pretty good job.

Almost everything on this card you can pick up at Susana's Custom Art and Card Design. She's got some great deals going on there! Go take a peek! I stamped my image and then the birdhouse two more times - one to cute out the entire house and the second one for the bird. I used some Yellow Velvet Flock for the bird and a bit of Glossy Accents for the roof. I highlighted my Bear's nose with my Grey Souffle pen and then topped it with Glossy Accents and used a bit on his eyes. The bird seed is touched up with Distressed Stickles and some buttons and Scrapper's Floss .

After what I went through cutting up this image, I can see why I'm in administration rather than medicine! I'm just not cut out to make the big cut! I hope you enjoy my halfsies and please don't ask me to cut an image for a while!

Card Ingredients:

Birdhouse Shy Bear by I Break For Stamps from SCACD, Yellow Velvet Flock, Souffle pen, Glossy Accents, Distressed Stickles in Straw, My Mind's Eye Paper, Scrapper's Floss, buttons, Prismacolor Pencils, OMS.

Try it out Tuesday #16 ~ Fairy Friends

It's Tuesday again and a new challenge for the SCACD DT. This time we were to use only half, or just a part of an image on our cards. Not so easy to cut the lovely image, I can tell you, but these fabulous Nestabilities makes it easier to do! I chose Dusk & Dawn by Faerie Song Art Stamps from Susana's. I masked the moons away, and cut off the lower part of the image, colored with Prismacolor pencils.
I got to try out one of the new Impressabilities, embossed the pink paper with it, and sanded to get the pattern to show better. Embellished with Glitter Dots and Kaisercraft Rhinestones. Flowers by Prima, butterfly die and oval cookie cutter by QuicKutz, the sentiment is by Hero Arts. Made the beaded pin my self.

This is how the whole image looks like:

Try It Out tuesday #16 - Halfsies

Welcome to another Try It Out Tuesday! I can't believe it's already the last Tuesday in April; boy the month has flown by! This week Suzanne challenged us to "Half It". You can only use part of your stamped image on your project this week, not the whole thing!!! All that time every night agonizing over finding JUST the perfect shape and EXACTLY the right size for the image -- and she makes us cut 'em up?!? LOL. Challenging - but MUCH fun; I love being made to think outside of my box.

Of course I reached for one of my Anki's Sweethearts to make today's challenge card! This is Julia with Flowers. She has the sweetest little dress on! Now you know I love my boys to death and wouldn't trade them for anything, but I am sometimes sad to miss out on the opportunity to dress a daughter in GIRLY GIRL dresses and take her out on the town, heehee. I suppose I will have to settle for coloring and accessorizing my images, huh? I stamped her in Memento Tuxedo Black and colored with Copics, then went through and added some highlighting with the white gel pen. Colors are Baja Breeze, Black, and Pretty in Pink.

I know I have mentioned this before, but it's such a good deal that it bears repeating. If you like these Anki's Sweethearts as much as I do, check out the major deal that Susana has on these fun images. But the "bundle" of all 10 together for only $50. That's a big discount off the individual prices, so In the end that just amounts to free rubbah. mmm...free rubbah!

Ok, what else? After I stamped and colored, I cut out the image and mats with Square Nestabilities. Then I colored some paper flowers with coordinating Copic colors and added them to the corner. I also added some Kaisercraft Pearls in Snow on the flower and in the corner. Border punch along the bottom edges, ribbons from my big "bag-o-ribbon" and viola!

Thanks for looking! I hope you are inspired to play along with us, I'd love to see what you can do when YOU "Half It!".

The key to happiness

The challenge for us this time is to use half an image on our project. How easy is that?
Well I can tell you - it's really difficult. I did not want to cut any of the images that I have from SCACD. So what should I do?

After a lot of coffee and thinking - this is what I came up with. I decided to cut Young Cathrine with friends in half with my nesties. Coloured her with my copics. Then I took my DPs from SU and cut them out as well with the nesties.

Hesitated - should I make a square card or..??? Looked at my shelfes and then I got it - It was ages ago, since I did a note book or post-it-notes-holder. Used my white coasters that I ordered from Angie Juda (she's the one that first showed me with her video-tutorials on how to make them as well). Covered the 2 pieces with DPs and then I used my bind-it-all machine (that also had not been used in ages.....shame on me ;-).

Added some drops/baubles, flowers from stash with spacers from my friend Marlene, Choc Chip Ribbon from SU as well as the sentiment rub-on and then the cute little key charm from Susana's. Voilà - project done and case solved ;-))Hope you'll like it. Please upload your projects/cards on PCP or SCS with the keyword "TIOT16".

Try It Out Tuesday #16 - Just a Note

Hello everyone and Happy Tuesday :) Today is Tuesday so that means it's another Try It Out Tuesday Challenge here at Susana's Store Blog. Our challenge this week was to use only part of one of the stamps Susana carries. This was a really neat challenge because it really shows the versatility of so many of these stamps.

I decided to use this adorable Emilia With Heart image from the Anki's Sweethearts Stamp Line, available exclusively at Susana's Store. I inked the image with Memento Black Ink, stamped it onto PTI cardstock, and colored it with my copics. I added some Shimmerz to the flower on her shirt and the hearts on her pants, and then I cut the image out, eliminating the heart image. This way, the only part of the stamp that I used was the little girl.

Next, I created my card base, which measures 5 1/4 by 5 1/4, out of SU's Pretty in Pink. I Layered Bashful Blue on top of that followed by my design paper from Debbie Mumm. I used my Scalloped Oval Nestabilities to cut out my cardstock and then adhered the image with dimensionals. I added a pink ribbon and a Heart Charm as well as Primas and Pearls for finishing touches. The sentiment is from Hot Off the Press (the set is called Tiny Words). I cut it out with my Word Window Punch.

What do you think? Well, that's it for me today. Make sure to scroll down to see the amazing creations the rest of the DT have come up with. Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a wonderful day! :)

Big Hugs, Christine :)

TIOT #16 Friends Forever!

Just look at these little Sweethearts!

I was inspired by my youngest son & daughter (though they are both redheads...but it didn't match the color scheme I wanted to use! lol) They love this warm weather and having been playing outside for hours everyday! Friends forever!
It's time for another Try It Out Tuesday and Suzanne, our lovely design team leader gave us an awesome challenge to only use part of a stamped image on our project. Whether we crop it, cut it or cover it, only half of the image can show! Isn't that a great challenge...made me think! So I chose to 'cover it' because cutting off my little Sweetheart's legs seemed cruel and barbaric! I didn't want to make this a girlie card so I thought these colors would be ideal; red, black & kraft! I hope you have a chance to play along with this fun challenge!
Don't forget to checkout the SPECIALS section at Susana's Custom Art & Card Design for some 50% off discounts!!!
Hope you are enjoying your day! Blessings!

Try It Out Tuesday #16 - Half the Fun!

Suzanne Dean is at it again - she's such a clever girl, I tell ya!! She's challenged the design team for Susana's Custom Art & Card Design to create a card using an image that is cut in half, or cropped so that part of the image is missing. Yikes!! When I say that this was a challenge for me, that is a flippin' understatement. Then I remembered that I had this fun new Rubber Romance image called Girl's Night Out. I made my own headless drinkie girls - how flippin' clever am I?!! I realize of course that I didn't invent this brilliant idea, but I thought that what I did was pretty innovative, don't you?!! I mean, who needs that "other" stamp company when you have Rubber Romance?!! I cropped the image with my Rectangle Classic Nestabilities, then added layers to give the appearance of a wine bar window. I even used a piece of acrylic cardstock for the window. I paper-pieced the drinkie girls' dresses. Look at the one on the far right - those big polka dots would make my booty look HUMUNGOUS!! LOL I colored their hair and bodies with my Copics, and presto, change-o!! Headless drinkie girls at a wine bar!! Thanks, Suzanne, for another fun Try It Out Tuesday Challenge!

Since today is my last day as a guest designer for Susana (it really is this time!! LOL), I just want to thank Susana and her amazing Design Team for making this experience such a fun one. You ladies are a group of some of the nicest women I've ever "met" and I will treasure all the fun times (and stressful ones, too!) that I've had the joy of experiencing the last two months. But don't you worry - I'll be your stalker for life!! LOL

Stamps: Girls' Night Out (Rubber Romance)
Paper: Stella DP (Making Memories); Vintage Cream CS (PTI), True Black CS (PTI), Pretty In Pink CS, Clear Acetate Sheets
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Memento)
Accessories: True Black 3/8" Satin Ribbon (PTI), Stampin Dimensionals, Scalloped Edge Punch (SU), Tag Trio (Spellbinders), Xyron, Copic Markers, Rectangle Classic Nestabilities, Cuttlebug

Young Julia with Purse

I haven't inked up this Anki's Sweetheart in awhile so I thought I'd have a bit of fun with her today. I think she's one of my favorites of the Sweetheart line, although I do like them all an awful lot! How could you not??
There are so many challenge blogs out there now, so fun, that I am finding if you look around, you can usually try lots of fun new ideas. I used a sketch from Stamps and Smiles, Sketch Challenge #5.
As this card came together I must say I was so happy with it!

Supplies:
card size: 5 1/2 x 4 1/4
stamps: Young Julia with purse, A Muse essential ovals, SU Polka Dot Punches

Tutorial ~ Corner Bookmark

OK, here's my first tutorial at Susana's store blog. I hope you'll find some inspiration to make a bookmark or two.
I was inspired by my good friend Godelieve's blog: StampingMathilda.

Here are some of the things I've used:

I start by cutting the card stock, 5"x5". Then I mark with a pencil at 2 1/2" on every side on the back of the CS.

Score between two of the marks on two sides like I did here:

Fold at the scored lines. Cut off the other two corners:

Now you got the base of the bookmark:

Now it's time to decorate it the way you like. I cut an extra piece of green CS to cover the folded corners, then I cut patterned paper and CS for layers.

I put some extra embellishments on this one, pearls on Scrapper's Floss.

The image is Sweet Lily by Eat Cake Graphics from Susana's.
Kaisercraft Rhinestones in the corners.

Here's another bookmark that I made earlier for a TIOT challenge, images are by Faerie Song Art Stamps from Susana's.

Check out Suzanne's blog too, she made a super corner bookmark yesterday!

I hope this tutorial was understandable, please feel free to ask any questions, I'll try to answer them as best as I can. :0)

Try It Out Tuesday #15

Hello Stampers!! So today is Try It Out Tuesday for Susana's Custom Art & Card Design store! This week I've challenged the DT to "Bling It On" their projects--use lots & lots of bling-y embellishments on their projects! Check out the store blog "Follow Your Heart" to see the rest of the DT's blingy projects & we'd love to have you join in too!

My first card for the challenge uses Lockhart's "Hydrangea & Berries"!--if you're interested in seeing how I created the main image using Flower Soft, Smooch & glitter-you can check out my video tutorial on my blog and here on the store blog's sidebar under "Using Flower Soft in Fun Ways"! The dp is from Dream Street Papers (thanks Susana) & I kept the layout simple & fresh! Very patriotic me thinks! The pearls in the corners are Kaiser & the ribbon is from PTI. I also used my new Labels 3 Nestabilities--love the shape!!
**When using Smooch on Flower Soft--it takes 24 hours to dry depending on how much you use!!

Up Close shot of the Flower Soft with glitter applied while wet and then Azure Smooch metallic paint on top! The berries were done with Liquid Pearls & I also used Diamond Glaze on the jar!
Susana has a deal right now on the Smooch paints--buy 7 & get the 8th one free!

Second card uses a cute fairy named "Poppy" from Eat Cake Graphics--Susana has quite a few of these stamps that are super cute & in stock at the store. I cut my Dovecraft dp in strips for a different & fun look. My image was cut out with Peony Nestabilities & the sentiment on my tag is from PTI's "Limitless Labels".

I blinged this fairy alot--she has stickles on her outfit/wings, Shimmerz on the panel (angel wingz) and then I added Kaiser rhinestones in Lavender around the outside panel. I also added some stickles to the dp in a few spots to make it sparkly too! Bling-a-licious! Such a cute birthday card for a girl in your life!!

Make sure and scroll down to see the rest of the DT's bling-a-licious Projects! If you'd like to play along, just upload to SCS using the keyword "tiot" & leaving a link on this post!!

hugz,
Suzanne

Try It Out Tuesday#15 ~Sweet Baby

A new Tuesday and a new DT challenge at SCACD, - 'Bling It On!'
We are to use lots of bling embellishments on our cards.
The image I used is super cute Rosebud Wears a Bow by Eat Cake Graphics from Susana's Custom Art & Card Design, colored with Prismacolor pencils. The sentiments are by Aud Design.
I made a 'stickles frame' on the image, and I put stickles on the heart charm. Added Bella Baubles and Swarcovski Crystals around the sentiment.
Got to use my new Nestabilities for the first time! =0)

Jennifer's Try It Out Tuesday #15 - Isac

Happy Tuesday! Do you want to Try It Out with us today? Well this week is a good one, so if you haven't jumped in yet, you should! This week Suzanne challenged us to Bling It! Personally, I am always up for a good bling challenge, so here is my contribution:

I used another of the fabulous Anki's Sweethearts from SCACD today. This is Isac with Skateboard. Isn't he adorable?! I have two boys myself, so I loves me a good cute-but-still-boyish image!

Don't forget that Susana has a great deal on these fun images - buy the "bundle" of all 10 together and you save $16.50. That's like getting 2.5 stamps for free!! You just can't beat free.

I stamped the image in Memento Tuxedo Black and colored him with Copics {of course!}. I went through and added some highlighting with the white gel pen after I had him colored and almost ready to go. I used Nestabilities to create the rounded panel - both circles and pinking circles. Threw in some Kaisercraft rhinestones along the side to make sure there to sparkle and viola! Plenty of bling but still made for a boy. The best of both worlds!

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you enjoy all the great bling'd creations, I know I will. Play along with us if you have time, I'd love to see what you create! Have a great day everyone.

Try It Out Tuesday #15 - Blitz and Bling Girls Night Out!

Rubber Romance just seems to fit me. I love their sass and their confidence. I've always had the sass but not always their confidence. But the times in my life when I've had it, bit's been fabulous These beauts take me back to a time when I would get all dressed up and go slinking around the discos, dancing my heart out.

Suzanne, our ever creative Design Team Leader at Susana's Custom Art and Card Design, challenged us with bringing out the blitz and bling. So for me, that was Girls Night Out! I colored these babes with my copics and highlighted them with stickles, shimmerz and spica pens! Their tini glasses are topped off with Glossy Accents and I used those great metallic dew drops on the corners. The paper is that fabulous Retro Paper Pack from Dovecraft that you can only get from Susana and I think it has as much sass as these sassy gals!

You can pick up all the products on this card from Susana's great shop. And while you're looking around her store, make sure you notice that the Smirks are 50% off!

Make sure you stop over at Follow Your Heart and see my other design team buddies creations. They're bound to be fabulous and don't forget your sunglasses. Remember the order of the day today is blitz and bling!

Card Ingredients:

Girls Night Out by Rubber Romances, Stickles, Shimmerz, Atyou Spica Glitter Pen, Metallic Dew Drops, Ribbon Charms, ribbon, cuttlebug folder, Retro Paper Pack from Dovecraft.

Try It Out Tuesday #15 - Hey Girlfriend

Hi everyone and Happy Tuesday :) Today is Tuesday so it's another Try It Out Tuesday Challenge here at Susana's Store Blog. Our wonderful DT leader, Suzanne, challenged us this week to add as much glitter and bling as we could to our card. I love glitter and bling so this was a super fun challenge for me :)

Here's a picture of my card without the flash. It's a bit difficult to see the shimmer and bling so here are two more pictures with the flash on that really show the shimmer and shine:

For my main image, I decided to use this fun and sassy Rubber Romance image, Three Girlfriends. I inked the image with Memento Black Ink, stamped it onto PTI cardstock, and colored it with copics. I added Ruby Red Liquid Pearls to the lips of two of the ladies for lipstick, White Opal Liquid Pearls to the outfits of the lady on the far left and the far right, Shimmerz to all handbags, and a Kaisercraft Soft Pink Rhinestone to the necklace on the lady in the middle. These ladies are stylin' :) I next stamped the sentiment, from Hanna Stamps, onto the image panel.

Next, I created my card base, which measures 5 1/2 by 5 1/2, out of SU's Regal Rose. I layered Basic Black on top of that followed by Elegant Eggplant, followed by my design paper from Basic Grey. I used my ticket corner punch on my image panel, adhered it to my SU cardstock and to the card base with dimensionals, and added Pearls to the corners. I added a separate panel and used my new Fiskars Diamond border punch along the bottom. I then added a purple ribbon and bow and a Heart Charm to the bottom of the card. For a finishing touch, I added Primas.

I'd love to hear what you think of my card. Thank you so much for stopping by. Don't forget to scroll down to see what the other amazing DT members have created. Hope you all have a wonderful day :)

Big Hugs, Christine

Alicia the Fairy....Magical

I really glam-ed up this card! The theme is bling...lots of it!!! So I used Alicia the Fairy, one of Anki's Sweethearts! She's colored with prismas and her wings are glitter-ized! The DPs are from DCWV's glitter stack and spring glitter pack! I dotted Kaiser rhinestones in the corners and on the prima flower center, even the ribbon is shimmery! Quite magical....as the sentiment notes!
I hope you have a chance to play along! Aren't all the DT cards fabulous????
Have a blessed day! Maria
