Hi all! I'm posting the question from our Elisabeth Bell Blog Candy winner today from Stephanie & Elisabeth's answer for everyone to see! Enjoy!
Stephanie's question:
I have only been blogging since January and fell in love with these stamps as soon as I saw them, they are just beautiful! My question would have to be how did you get into designing stamps?
My answer:
Congratulations on the win Stephanie!! I hope you enjoy your print as well as the set of stamps you will receive through the very talented and generous Susana when they are released later this year. And thank you so much for the compliment, I’m delighted that you enjoy the “Elisabeth Bell” stamp designs as much as you do! :)
As to your question, that is a good one. To be honest, even as recent as early last year, I had never dreamed of stamp designing. I was going along my merry way teaching children's art lessons, creating creative personal portraits and painting children's wall murals (as you can tell, I just love all things children :D). I enjoyed what I did and hoped to go further with my art, but did not realise that it would happen so soon :).
In early 2008, I was contacted by Sugar Nellie who expressed a deep interest in using my work to put onto rubber stamps. After some discussion, I accepted and an entire new world began for me. The type of illustrations I create for my stamp designs are exactly what I love to draw. So I eventually stopped all my other creative pursuits and decided to concentrate more fully on stamp designing.
Since that time, I have also begun working with Whiff of Joy Stamps and will soon embark on working with 3 other stamp companies come July of this year, including the fabulous Susana’s Custom Art and Card Design, which I’m very excited to do. I believe I will continue designing for rubber stamps for some time, and needless to say, I have more creative ambitions up my sleeve :D.
Thanks so much for the opportunity to share a bit of my creative history with you Stephanie and huge congratulations once again on your win!
Big hugs,
Elisabeth xx
